1. If you don't have a picture of your car, show one just like it....And tell us when you had it or a little about it...
The reason for it's coolness can be anything, but if its not obvious you have to fess up the coolness factor...
You are not limited to one, "The Coolest"...All contenders to that title qualify, and we want to see them....

I'll be back with some others later on, but this is the one I cry about having sold probably the most....
I don't have a picture of mine but this one is identical...same year ('71), color, condition...identical...
I got mine in the early 80's, left it with a friend in DC to sell, while I went down to St. Pete FL. looking for work and digs and such in the early '90's...The second day I was in St.Pete I was offered a full-time gig in the Big Band at the Dog Track and didn't need to sell the car...I called my friend in DC immediately and when she answered the phone she said, "You'll never guess what happened today..." I said "Don't tell me you sold the car.." She was like I thought you'd be happy I sold it so quickly...MAAAN!! And the cat she sold it to cut the roof off and made a convertable out of it....Doh !!
No regrets....I probably will replace it one day and I'll put a picture up in the Haul thread....;)

  5. My favorite was a 1968 white Citroen, back when they were still legal to import into the US. Pneumatic suspension and front wheel drive.

    Just like this one:
    250px-1974_Citroen_D-Special_02.jpg

Inboard disc brakes -- why would they put the brakes inboard? Had to pull the engine to replace the disc! But what a fun car -- and as temperamental as a French [[put your favorite word here]].

  6. I'm not sure how cool it really was, but the most fun car I ever ran was a metallic orange 1971 Fiat 124 Spider.

This picture isn't mine. I had different wheels on mine, honeycomb bbs. Got rid of the stock 1600cc engine and dropped in a 2 litre from a '72. Replaced the head with a 16v version, dual down draft Webers, headers feeding into a 2 3/4" free flow exhaust. Mine wasn't as nice cosmetically, but it was throaty and pretty darned quick. Unfortunately, like most older Italian cars around here, mechanical issues and rust led to it being sold for parts a few years after my pop and I built it. It was a lot of fun while it lasted.

  7. Has to be my current vehicle. My 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon; I call her Rubi-Wan-Kenobi. It is almost everything I could ask for in a car. Damn cool. Not international spy cool or anything, but an awesome utilitarian thing of wonder. Front and rear locking differentials, 4.10 gears in Dana 44 axles, disconnecting sway bars, 32" tires (for now ;)), and cloth top by choice. One of these days I'm going to lift her 3.5" and get 35" tires too :)

My kids pretending to beat the hell out of my Jeep. They later decorated it up in all sorts of girly stuff....I was away on travel and took the car to the airport parking.

My Jeep out on the trail. I had my head shaved at the time.

This one is not mine, but she will look like this at some point. Wheels and tires will be different but this will be her, doors on or off. I prefer off.

  8. I don't know if when I owned a car at the time that it was considered cool.

However, until this year I owned a truck that was a speed demon and at the time I bought it everyone considered it cool.

220 hp high torque V8 1996 Dodge Dakota weighing about 3,550 lbs total.

It could easily do 130 mph if the computer governor was deactivated. I know, I once did triple digits with the engine reading 3,000 rpm and it red lines at 4,800 rpm.

This is not the exact truck, but almost the same (color same mine was not a 4X4).

I sold it this year because it age and repair cost issues were just too great (transmission, major engine work) along with needing better gas mileage to go to and from work.

I need something that got better than 15 mpg and I had another truck that was paid for that was newer so that could be used for errands and any heavy hauling.

So I traded it to get a 250hp V6 2008 Saturn Aura that gets 25 mpg. Less repairs since it is newer and warranted by GM. It is a car that is not a cool car because it is on a Malibu base, until you hit the accelerator...

  9. I don't have a photo but you've all seen one like my favorite:

    a 2003 Chrysler PT cruiser.

For me, it's an ideal bridge between a car and a truck. I can fit kid seats in the back and tote the kids around and yet not feel that I'm driving a soccer mom van. Gas mileage is all right and it looks okay on the street. Won't win any acceleration contests, but it's just there to get me where I'm going.

The only thing I don't like about it is that they discontinued the line. This is the first and last PT cruiser I'll own.

  10. 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS. 325hp, 396cid, 4 speed Muncie transmission.White with black vinyl top and black stripe, black interior.
I bought it in 1973 after I got out of high school and back from wheat harvest. I think I paid $1350.00 for it. Later I dropped in a 375 hp 396 and promptly blew it up. Sold it for $500.00.:signs131: stupid, I know but my interests had changed to Harleys by then.

  11. My first car was my Dad's 1969 350 CID 300 hp High Octane fuel Fire Red Chevrolet Impala that was a rust bucket exterior wise ... however the engine and the transmission were a different story. It could fly, but at only 8 mpg. Got rid of it when I entered college.

  15. I should have been arrested the way I drove this car. The road between Sand Springs and Sperry, OK is a winding road that just begs for you to work the 5-speed transmission and boy did I ever! This isn't the car I had, but it sure does look the same. Deep forest green with tan leather interior ... I learned how to burn my tires all the way through 3rd gear in this car :D

Probably a good thing I drive a 2006 Scion Xb today ....
  16. Yes, now you are dreaming of making that tread last a little bit longer with the price of tires being as they are.

  20. The coolest car I every owned.... 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster. (Hence 2005XFR)
It was the first production of the Chrysler Crossfire Roadster.
It was my "midlife crisis" car.

Living in Northern California we enjoyed trips to the Napa wine country, Yosemite, Las Vegas, San Diego, Phoenix, Tuscon and finally New Mexico.

    XFR.jpg
But, alas... now living in New Mexico a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is more appropriate.
