I usually don't include my Thayer's Witch Hazel/Osage Rub mix in my Menthol Monday shave listings, but JoAnna's new Iced SubZero Witch Hazel is scented nicely, and frigid enough to replace the Osage Rub splash I apply before my aftershave, so I'll be including it as long as the sample holds out.

I think my face will be frozen all week because of the shave I had this morning. The Denu cream and Diana Sport balsam are mega-frigid to the point that some guys might not be able to tolerate them. I'm a menthol freak so I can! :biggrin:

A nice shave to start off a work week always puts me in a good mood. Wow, so much iciness this morning with the Godrej Menthol Mist, followed by this fantastic balsam which is made in Austria. BTW, the 7 AM blades are very good - you just have to be a little more careful with them.

 

Monday, December 12, 2011 - Today's the day! Menthol Monday!

1. Prep: Hot shower; CB Super Sensitive facewash; hand strop blade
2. Coffee: Locally roasted, fresh ground Nicaraguan w/ cream
3. Lather: Speick + M-Bomb - bowl lather
4. Brush: Vulfix 2234
5. Razor: Gem MMOC
6. Blade: Pella SS PTFE coated (5); 3 passes
7. Post: Cold water rinse; Osage Rub mixed w/ California Baby super sensitive face lotion

The Speick and Vulfix really whipped up a great lather this morning. I have a tendency to have a thinner lather for passes 2 & 3 so today I didn't re-wet my face between passes. I just went straight back to the brush and was rewarded with a very creamy and slick lather for all 3 passes this morning.

These 7 AM's have very good longevity - this is only my 3rd shave with this blade, and it still cuts like it's brand-new. The Kool Frosty cream and the Barbon aftershave delivered their iciness beautifully for me this morning!

Although the winter cold has finally attacked us, I still decided to have my Menthol Monday Shave, and what a shave it was. The Gada Cool Mint cream delivered its super-rich lather and wonderful menthol effect, and the Alt Innsbruck was a perfect finish with its icy blast!

 

I'll be the second one with Gada SC...

I made sure that for my 1st Menthol Monday Shave of 2012 I would have a frozen face - the Williams Menthol cream has a somewhat milder cooling effect than Palmolive Menthol during the 1st pass, but then when you re-lather, it itensifies very well. The Osage Rub is in a class by itself.

3. Lather: L'Occitane Cade - face lather
4. Brush: Simpson's Commodore X2
5. Razor: Gem MMOC
6. Blade: Pella SS PTFE coated (7); 3 passes
7. Post: Cold water rinse; Osage Rub + Kiehl's Balm

The Cade gave up a super slick and thick lather to the X2 this morning. With each use I'm liking the scent more and more. The Osage + Kiehl's gave a great freezing feeling along with some wonderful skin hydration.
