Slanted Shave # 11-First Pairing with the Gillette 7 o'clock Black Ninja When we last left off, our hero, "Slanty," had been delivering one outstanding shave after another. I was curious if it would like the 7 o'clock Black even more then the Blue so I gave it a whirl. Proraso Pre/Post-thanx for the Pif Johnny Vulfix 404 Mixed-this little engine that could amazes me daily Gillette 7 o'clock Platinum Black Ninja (1) Merkur 37 C "Slanty" Alcalado Glacial AS-thanx Mechguy The shave was luxurious. The Black is a hair less sharp then the Blue (imo) but with Slanty, I am ripping through the hair so the extra smoothness of the Black felt nice. I will give it a few more shaves to know for sure. Once again I was not disappointed. I see why Aaron loves his Sledgehammer so. It took me good five shaves to get slanted, and now I'm loving shaving in an even bigger way. Below is a pic of my first two pifs. Thanx Johnny for the Proraso, thanx Mechguy for the Alcalado. Five Blade Shave

How did you like Bob's Bull Mastiff with the Old Type Gillette? You're a Bay Rum Man? A Man with Taste, I see. It's among my very favourites as well...
Tuesday, January 03, 2012 Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Razor: Merkur 23C Blade: Voskhod Teflon Brush: EJ Best Soap or Cream: RazoRock XXX A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Proraso Balm A very close shave--I felt a slight tingle, something I rarely encounter. It was the 5th shave on the blade, but I don't know if it was the blade or a sensitivity to the soap. Whatever the cause, the witch hazel/balm finish erased the feeling and all is well. What's puzzling is that I've used both the blade and the soap before (but never together) without any adverse reaction. It's time to change the blade, though.
Hey, Jeff. All of my razors have a BRW handle on them. Before Christmas, I sent my Merkur slant to Bob for a conversion and I asked him to send me the Old Type head replated in nickle. I was really surprised at the shave. Much more on the aggresive side, which is good. The whiskers singing off the blade reminded me a little of the R41. I have the Gillette New head, also from Bob, that I like too, but it's milder to me than the Old Type. I know Dale has the same OT head and BRW handle rig that I do and I have read him say that he really likes his. I'd like to hear Dale's comments if he passes over this. The combo of Captain's Bay Rum and TSD Bat Rum is my all time favorite. I highly recommend JoAnna's AS milk. Always nice to meet another Bay Rum-aholic. Thanks for the question. Please let me know if I can help.

Schick G6 injector Schick blade La Toja Shave Stick Omega Boar Using La Toja all this week, and it's working out great. This policy of using soaps for at least a week at a time is beginning to convince me that the exact soap doesn't matter all that much to me. I do like the smells or the feel of the lather more on some, but if I use something consistently, the end results are the same. My face just isn't that fussy. As a side note, one resolution for this year is to go through my books and get them all categorized and alphabetized. Everything is mixed up with everything else.

Wednesday: Omega Wooden Handle Super Speed/new 7 AM Barbon SC Keri unscented moisturizer Barbon AS JHL Cologne I love the Barbon cream - the lather is so thick and rich, it smells great, and it leaves my skin feeling very well-cleansed and smooth. The matching aftershave is an absolute keeper for me now at all times. I really started to like the 7 AM's a lot - I'm happy that I have many of them.
