This has been a frustrating few days for me. I've been trying to "understand" the Medicare enrollment. After talking with the wife (she has been in the medical billing field for 10 plus years) and my Mother and Mother-in-law, I think I have figured out the best plan for me. Holy Smokes! And to think I used to think that BCBS was expensive. Not wanting to get onto a rant which would be politically motivated and against the rules here, I'll just say that it costs a lot of money to stay healthy!

Indeed. not just medically/insurance-wise, but go to the store to buy snacks....are people strapped for money/tight budget more likely to buy chips, popcorn, etc, for 2-3 bucks, or healthy and beneficial fruits and veggies which tend to cost much more?
It's almost like "they" (whomever "they" may be) facilitate us to be fat and unhealthy by making eating better more expensive. Yes, it can be done, even on a tight budget, but most folks either won't, or can't, always take the time and work to make it happen.

And then you run into the insurance/medical stuff that really knocks you out. Frivolous/outlandish litigation has really played a huge part of our current financial mess as a country

    Starting the year off right...

Some one broke into my car and left two fiberglass driveway markers. The rear view mirror was out of whack, but nothing was missing or broken.

I'm working like a dog right now. Work is crazy busy, and my CMA program keeps me away from spending pretty much any time with my family while at home. The most eciting thing that happened is that I was trying to reinstall part of the OS on my phone at 1am this morning (not too smart due to lack of techies on the net) and when I rebooted I got the DREADED "Failed to boot" message:angry017: . I knew I had pretty much 1 chance to fix it or it was bye-bye phone!

So after a few hearts attacks:scared011: , waves of nausea:sick007: , and some crazy good luck:happy088: , I found out what to do and eventually was able to get it up and running again.:happy093:

That was the worst hour of my life so far this year.

    Lessons learned:

    1) Do not tamper with the operating system on your phone at 1am. No one is up to help you and it is probably better done when you aren't falling asleep!
    2) If the Firefox browser on your lapdock doesn't work...just use your computer!

Indeed it is. They made an announcement that they're re-doing all the games for HD screens and they're going to port it to android. And Al Lowe is involved! The LSL games have long been a guilty pleasure of mine, and I'm looking forward to reliving the fun.

Okay, so I got an unexpected surprise gift of a $100 gift card for Lowes. Wife wants to repaint the living room (joy and rapture) and/or build a shelf in the kitchen island. Personally, I'd love to get small compressor and a brad nailer. Now, Lowe's has a 2 gallon job for $99 that comes with a nailer, but it's no beast--meanwhile Sears has a better compressor on sale online for $79 and you can get a cheap(but decent) nailer for less than $20 at Harbor Freight... We're hoping on a decent tax return this year, and were planning to buy the paint, etc. with it.

So here's what I'm thinking... use the gift card to buy paint and wood (though I can get most of the wood I need for free), and other supplies, then use tax return to buy the other stuff at sears and HF.

I dunno though, the 2 gal compressor is probably all that I need, and the convenience of having it all at once sure would be nice.

    Then there's those chainsaws...

yep. [rimshot] just us zombies. [/rimshot]

we closed on our new house today. We're really happy about the new house- it's bigger than where we are now, much newer, and much closer to work. Getting to this day has been stressful. The realtor was super helpful and supportive, but the rep at our mortgage company was not. He gave me the wrong instructions for filling out an important form and never did seem to grasp the fact that one of the banks we were working with was in Wisconsin and not south Texas.

Anyway, it's done and we're happy. We've hired packers and movers so that part won't be super painful.

busy busy days...actually for the better, but I do miss my "online time".

replaced 2 macbook screens today, but it still takes me twice as long as the go-to macbook repair guy...naturally, he's been doing it longer.
haven't shaved in 4 days, my razor is calling tonight, and will be answered :)

so, what's up with e'ryone else?
