Personna Med. Prep is my 2nd favorite blade of all. I will always have them handy.

[I'm in the market for a Merkur Slant Bar, and I'm torn between which of these two models I should get: The 37C, with its short handle (Akin to the HD), or the 39C, with its "barber pole" handle. Does it really make a difference?]

I had both razor but found them to be too aggressive for my skin. The 39c gave the closer shave with less passes of the two but took practice not to remove my face along with the stubble. :) I liked the balance of the 37c a bit better. It is somehow more compact in the hand. YMMV I have a Parker 98 which is a long handled 4.3 ounce monster of a razor. It is very well made and (at least for me) gave very nearly the same shave with less irritation at half the price! I'm not completely sure of this but I think the R41 Muhle may give the better shave with less irritation...

Hmmmm I tried using the [ ] to quote but it seems not to have worked. Did I do something wrong?

Personally, I'm now two shaves in with the 37C, loaded with a med prep personna.

    1) Better shave than the first round, because I was more relaxed. I did a three-pass a opposed to a two-pass. One very minor nick in the moustache region, but very little burn overall.

    2) Results were a DFS, but could be a little bit better. I usually puff my cheeks up when I'm going xtg on my face, but haven't been doing that out of respect for the razor.

Still very happy, because even with my beloved '49 Superspeed, I typically have burn on my neck. I may bag the personna for now and switch to a 7 O'clock Black for the next shave.

I have a 37c, used it this evening. I like the way it shaves, got my first BBS with it using a red Personna blade. No comment on the 39c, don't have one yet. I do have a 38c and I like it better than my 34c so I'll probably get a slant version sometime this year.

Hrm...my last two shaves with the 37c have been horrible and merely ok, in that order. Granted, I switched up blades to a Bolzano (was using a med prep personna) and that might be the problem. I also seem to have a lot of maneuvering issues with the 37c that I don't have with my superspeed or fatboy.

Still working on it, but ouch ouch and more ouch.

I'd love to use my 37C. Its here on base...somewhere. Army mail seems to have issues getting it 600m to my freakin room.:angry019:

Are you sure the blade is loaded correctly?

Love my sledge but like any razor, needs to be learned. Handle length doesn't really seem to matter to me either but I haven't used a short slant either.

Yep, I'm pretty sure it's loaded right. Looks even to me.

    Gotcha! Just checking;)

I love the med. preps. Give that a go again and see if it helps.
