In the last 3 weeks or so every so often I have red blotches/marks on my face after shaving its only since ive been using Proraso (white or Green) or the omega soaps. could it be that I have a problem with menthol?
I am ok with the proraso pre-shave been using that for a few months or could it be the proraso ASB? I have used the ASB after every proraso/omega shave.
I have used different razor/blade combo's with the suspect items and its the same result, the marks subside after a 24-36 hours
The shave is always great razor/blade very smooth today was a BBS:)
I didnt mention this untill now because I wanted to try a few more shave to try and isolate the product not sure if it is the soap asb or both.
    Any suggestions are welcome:signs002:

I have enough products to change my set up, while in Poland the palmolive shave stick/bond ASB was fine.

I would suggest segregating your Proraso/Omega product usage from each other, and see what happens.
In order to attempt to pinpoint the problem, you need to take it down to the minimum.

My other thought is that menthol may not be the culprit, but rather the soap ingredients.
It's really difficult to pinpoint which exact ingredient is responsible.
Do you have any other mentholated soaps, or products?

Its happened with the following combinations:-
Proraso pre + Proraso white + Proraso ASB,
Proraso pre + Proraso green + Proraso ASB,
    Omega soap + Proraso ASB.

    Maybe the ASB?

hmmm.....yeah, didn't think my last post was very clear.

I was trying to say; test each product on it's own. :o

Limit yourself to 1 Proraso/Omega product per shave, then you may find the problem.

Ahhh that makes more sense:) i wont shave till Friday I will go with Shower for prep (I will leave out the Proraso pre as I know thats ok) I will go with the Palmolive shave stick, and then the Proraso ASB.

    That is pretty darn red.

Your wife slapped you, didn't she? :D
Don't blame the menthol. You might start a flame war. :happy102:

Doesn't the Proraso preshave contain menthol too?

I would think that if it was a allergy to menthol it would have showed up when you started using the preshave balm.

I know thats whats so puzzling, and why Ive kinda asked the question. i have used the pre shave with many other products and no problem, But this problem has happened when I havent used the pre (when using either proraso wht/grn or omega):(

    Dean,

I guess you might want to go back to using exactly what you were using before you had the breakout.
That set of products before the Proraso/Omega set was not causing your face to break out.
Give your skin a little time to get reset from the irritation. Maybe a week or so.

After that follow what JoAnna suggests. Use only one product, maybe the Omega soap at first. If that works well, then try the ASB and so on.
Remember though to take each change slowly so that you give yourself a chance to see what is reacting.

Good fortune on finding the problem.

I would have to say great info here... give it some time then try one item at once. Don't just try the products once either. Go a couple days with one thing before switching.

NEVER BLAME THE MENTHOLLL... :angry017: Sorry that just came out.

I have the same problem with Proraso white. Sucks to cause I like it, but if I use it 2 days in a row I get the "burn" also. I usaully use RazoRock then every now in then throw in some Proraso white.

Could be any of the ingredients, even the green tea in the Proraso white. As others have suggested, use 1 product only for a week and see what happens. Make yourself a schedule similar to this:

Week 1: Proraso Green Tea & Aloe soap
    Week 2: Proraso soap
Week 3: a soap you know you've never had any issues with before followed by the Proraso ASB

After 3 weeks, you should know the culprit. If you've had no problems, then it wasn't any of the 3 Proraso products so move on to the Omega products.

But it will be well worth it when it doesn't look like you get smacked by your wife every morning :). That could get a bit awkward...

Being that he works with her we know it's not a wife slap, because if it was and with that much time together then both cheeks would be red! :happy102:

Update I shaved last night, I used Proraso white, and alum block afterwards NO pre and NO balm face was fine:signs002: looking like its the balm that's the problem, just to make sure I'll use the Omega tomorrow, again no pre or balm.
I wont be to happy if its the balm as I have 2 new bottles:(

No sir, that won't be cool at all.

Skip everything and just go straight to the balm and see what happens. No shave, no alum, no pre, nothing. Just put on some of the balm.
