I see you're not in the middle of a deep freeze like your western brother here. Last night's windchill was -50:Animatedfrozensmily:, and it really doesn't get much warmer than -35-40 during the day (with wind...man I hope it really ends soon!)

    Wednesday:

    Gillette Black Handled SS
    Red Personna
    Penworks Finest 24mm
    Monsavon
    Proraso White ASB

I haven't shaved since Sunday, but with the Arctic weather we have been having, I wasn't really in a hurry (anything to help stay warm is welcome when outside), but I heard the Monsavon calling my name. The first pass was with a poor lather; I had too much water. I loaded the bruh a bit more for pass number 2 and the lather was perfect! It was a good shave this morning; quick too! A DFS with no irritation. :)

    Wednesday 18 January

    Arko shave stick
    Omega travel boar, face lather
Gillette Slim (set to 5), with Rapira Platinum Lux (D3)
Alcolado Glacial and Nivea sensitive ASB

This was a three pass with a little blade buffing on the chin and jawline for a DFS++, almsot BBS but not quite. My gillette slim still seems to be way more agressive than it used to be. I think this is what caused the bloodbath on Saturday morning. I think all the travelling I have been doing with it knocked something loose. I never had shave's like this with this razor and blade combination before. I think I will hunt up the post about gillette slim's and check the blade clearances when I get back. This might be one of my best shave's with this razor. I always felt the slim was too mild to give me as good a shave as the gillette milord, know I will have to reconsider.

    Have a great day.

Have you run out of MWF? I haven't seen you use it in several days.

No sir, not at all. Just doing some experimenting with some creams right now. I usually use the MWF during the week and creams on weekends, but I'm just changing that schedule around right now. However, I am getting to the bottom of my MWF puck. Time to order some more.

Thats brutal! I don't think I've ever seen -50C myself. What part of Alberta are you in? I was steering clear of the Menthol this morning because of -30 C before windchill O_o

I'm in Edmonton. Today's high is -33 with a -43 windchill. It honestly wouldn't be so bad if our winter thusfar hadn't been about -15 as an average, but we have some Arctic air system moving through and I think it is determined to hit us with all the cold that we have missed up to now.

Yup, I hear ya, its been mild here as well. So far the average temp I've seen here has been under or around -10, so I guess we can't REALLY complain. It is Canada after all :p

    Wednesday 18th January

    Hot shower and facial scrub
    Proraso Preshave Cream
    Feather Artist club SS
    Simpson Classic in Best
    Florena Shave cream
Alum Block followed by Wilco AS Balm
    Aqua Velva AS

I really enjoy the Feather. I know that I want to master the traditional straight (eventually).....but the Feather and Kai razors are just so much easier to use. A DFS+ shave today after my post night duty sleep.

-45, that's seriously cold, I thought our winter in the UK was pretty bad last year -20 a few times but those temperatures are life threatening.

That Feather razor is spoiling you Brian, i'm affraid you will never find a traditional straight as sharp, no matter how well honed or stropped it is.

    Merkur 11 C-Shave 2

A day shave after a night shave

The objective of the 11 C was to be a milder brother to my 37 C Slanty. For those am's where you had to shower at a pm function the night before , or just want a milder shave etc.

After two shaves I couldn't be happier. It takes a little bit of touch up, but Slanty is proud of the shaves his brother is giving. I am using a 7 o'clock Dark Blue but will try a Black next. I use the blacks in Slanty. For me, the yellow's are too sharp for these razors but I will have to find out for sure one day.

    Today's Kit

    EBC Preshave
Vulfix 404 Mixed-I love this brush
    MWF
    Gillette 7 o'clock Dark Blue (2)
    Merkur 11 C Open Comb
    Witch Hazel/TSD Lavender Milk
    Alcalado Glacial-I'm in love

I finished up with two excellent shaves out of the box and could not be more pleased with either razor. I can't get over how good my face feels.

What is the purpose of the slant type razors? Sort of a slicing action instead of just a straight cut action.
