Some of my favorite sites are blacked out today to raise awareness of SOPA and PIPA. Great... now I guess I'm going to have to actually do some work around here. If they want to really get the public's attention, they should black out google.

    yup... google, wikipedia, facebook, etc...

ahhh... just checked wikipedia is blacked out. How about facebook and twitter? Those would get some real attention.

I knew Wikipedia was blacked out, and Google was going to participate as much as they could, a lot of the webcomics and some other sites I visit are black today. Unfortunately, that message is either A:) preaching to the choir (us); B:) informing people who aren't aware of what's going on; or C:) irritating people who don't care and just want their sites. Without realizing that that could very well be their sites if this bull crap passes.
B is unfortunate, not because it makes people aware, but because we as a society tend to be too complacent and not truly make their voices heard where it counts....I better stop there

BTW: Micah, you have been posting some great work on your blog lately!

Well my day has started out with a bang! I leave the house at 6:30 to catch the bus for work. I hear my youngest cry a little and it comes from the monitor as well as outside my door. Here my oldest decided to get up for the day at 6. She usually wakes up at 8. Needless to say she is going to be a nightmare for my wife today. :(

Fair. Need to find some 'papers' that I put away for safe keeping about 2 months ago. Looks like it was in a good spot!!!

Thanks! I really appreciate the encouragement. I'm quite a bit rusty on my art skills... the depression has really sucked all inspiration out of me for a long time now, and I've really lost touch. I'm trying to get my mojo back. I wish I could say the last two pics came purely from my head, but I kind of loosely followed an online video tutorial, so they're a bit Bob Ross-ish in that regard, but I figure it's a start.

i'm using a '92 jeep cherokee and this weekend the 4wd was slow to disengage. most car repairs aren't cheap so i'm crossing my fingers i'll have money left over from this repair to have a replate done on a fatboy. would rather buy myself a replate for my birthday than a transmission repair

Slight rage on account of Purolator right now. I had to have my sons birth certificate sent out here ASAP, they had no issues accepting the package and sending it to Kingston from Winnipeg, however when it got here, the fun started, because apparently they do not deliver to PO boxes, though I can guarantee you I've seen their vehicles at the base post office dozens of times this week alone. So I spent 2 hours on the phone arguing with someone who can't understand basic English and now have to leave a field exercise tomorrow morning and reschedule 2 classes so I can go down to the depot on the other end of the city in the HOPE that they will give me my package, because my Military ID doesn't have any address that matches the package (Of course no military ID has addresses anyway) and my drivers license is for a different province (Go figure with being in the army and all, and having been on 5 different bases in the last 6 months).

Sorry rant over. Sometimes I just feel like some people need to learn to play soccer in a minefield.

Don't sell yourself short, those are great scenes/backgrounds and the bird is awesome as well. Even if you are following an online tutorial you are displaying more artistic talent than I could ever accomplish.

It was a weird monday. My laptop battery started crudding out on me 40 minutes into a meeting. Now, the battery has been loosing it, but this was a sudden drop from the 1.5 hours I got last week. (OK, that would make a normal Monday). I sent in a tech repair request at about 12:30. I figured it would be a long wait (weeks) for a non essential repair. I was totally shocked when one of the IT crew walked in and not only replaced the dying 6 cell battery with a new 9 cell battery, but also upgraded my memory as well. I don't get it. I am not complaining, I am pleasantly shocked, but I just don't get it.

I don't know why I haven't been posting much... just kinda out of it and not as social. Over the last week, I read a battletech triology and then had to go and play mechwarrior 4 vengeance, mechwarrior 4 mercenarries, mechcommander, mechcommander 2 and the expansion packs over the weekend. Now my tendonitis is starting to flare up again. It makes me wonder if all the years of being a joystick jockey (yup... put that in the OOC thread...) were part of the reason that wrist is in such bad shape now.

Maybe it is time to jump to the wing commander series....

2 new tech devices in the household:

Kindle Fire (for my wife): pretty doggone nice, actually. she's actually starting to enjoy technology....not sure if that's good or bad. I've already learned, by "necessity", that it's pretty easy to sideload apps on the fire - thank you Dropbox! :)

Sansa Clip Zip (for me): finally made the decision on the MP3 player I would get (the one I was leaning toward from the beginning). Pros and cons:
Pros: great sound; lightweight; pretty easy to navigate; built in clip (thus the name); microSD slot; not an "i" device :) ; etc.
Cons: well, only one really, but it's pretty major....what's with having to hold the power button for 30+ seconds to reset the device at least twice a day, usually more...and I've only had it not yet a week even. Wow, major issue. Nothing mentioned anywhere about a fix for the issue, just a "well, accept it for what it is" kinda thing.
I have updated the firmware to the latest version, and reinstalled it manually just for shiggles. Still does it. No bueno. I may try exchanging it for another one to see if it does better, if not, well, I guess I may save up some more and go for the Fuze, although I'm not too crazy about the capacitive type surface. I'm starting walking and running, and soon to start some cycling hopefully, I want buttons for this particular device, it's why I passed on the Phillips Android based player, and the (can't believe I'm admitting this) the touch screen ipod nano (I figure since I'm using a macbook pro and ipad at work now, all my efforts to avoid itunes at all costs is now irrelevant).

Kind of a glum day today for some reason, not sure what the deal is, nothing particularly wrong, just, meh
