    Tuesday:
    Hot shower
    ever ready boar brush
    VDH deluxe soap
Magic shavette with a shark blade

2 passes with the Magic and only 2 very small nicks. finished the final pass with an adjustable on 9 and a Wilkie blade. Very quick final pass, which means I did pretty good with the str8.
cold water splash to rinse away the carnage then a little dab of Gillette a/s balm. Feeling good!

Early morning shave that I'm just getting time to post:
    13112.jpg
I made a last minute change to the razor and went with my Gillette Aristocrat (obviously not in the picture)
    Super Iridium
    22mm best in custom handle
    Whipped Dog Scuttle
    TSD wheat Barbershop
    TSD ASM Barbershop

Ruh Roh I put this in the wrong thread! Maybe one of the mods can fix this for me.

Above Pic Taken After The Shave

Call Me Silly, Call Me Nutsy-Menthol Tuesday

The above quote is from the Odd Couple, whose theme is my ring tone. I can see Felix easily as a Wet Shaver.

So why am I a nut? I decided to pair a Gillette 7 o'clock Yellow Sharp Edge with my Merkur 37 C Slanty. I figured what the heck; this will either be the best shave of my life or the worst. So I went for it along with the following kit.

Vito's pre and post-nice and mentholy
    Omega 80005-one heckuva face latherer
TSD ISZ Cream-truly brings tears to my eyes
    Merkur 37 C Slanty-the clean-up hitter (LoL)
Gillette 7 o'clock Yellow Sharp Edge (1)-my favorite of the really sharp blades
TSD ISZ Witch Hazel-gotta get me more
TSD ISZ Milk-always a fab favorite
Alcolado Glacial-learned about it in this forum. Love It

So what happenned? I did my usual three pass shave, 14 hours after just using Slanty. Like I told my Dad, Slanty is much more efficient then aggressive.

The shave was perfect, nice and slow, with lots of noise. The pairing of Slanty and Yellow was sublime, always being in tune with the razor kept me safe. Two touch ups and it was one of my best shaves ever.

Wow!! You did go all out on the ISZ:) Great to have JoAnna as a temptress, huh?

You probably killed a few orange groves down there with all that ice. Glad to hear the yellows and Slanty played well together.

When I had my Jagger I used a yellow as the razor is mild and needs a lot of passes. Since switching to a Merkur Slant and Open Comb, I require much less passes and have a face that feels great

    Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - Midnight Shave

    Prep :: Shower
Razor :: Gillette Old Type /w BRW Handle
Blade :: Personna Med. Prep. (1)
Soap :: Speick Stick bowl grated
Brush :: Rudy Vey Omega Boar (the tips are splitting)
Post :: Alum, Cold water rinse, WH + Rosewater
    AS :: RazoRock Wax

Tried a little experiment tonight. I read a post by Mark (Mark1966) that said the Gillette Old Type was originally meant to take a thicker blade. When I use my OT, I have to make sure the blade is seated evenly when I tighten the handle. Don't know why that is. So I though I would try a shim to simulate a thicker blade.

It did fix the blade loading problem, but the shave wasn't very comfortable and I got a small bit of iritation on the left side of my neck. It didn't last long and went away quick, but the shave wasn't that enjoyable. Question answered, but it wasn't the answer I wanted.:sad024:

Enough of my troubles. Have a great Wednesday everybody.

    Jamie.

Honed this razor up on sunday, and what a fantastic shave it delivered, somehow I knew even though as with all my razors they all pass the HHT off the last hone and strop, something told me this would be a fine shaver, and she did not disapoint.
