About a year or so I stopped buying soaps and creams, plenty of both of them for the next 5 years or so. Then I made a mistake: I joined TSD. So this came in today: And there's also some Godrej Menthol Mist en route. You menthol heads have a very bad influence on me
Received two packages today. Package one contained two Gillette SS razors from GDCarrington and package two contained an Omega 10005 brush that I purchased from eBay.
Today my first Gilette razor arrived. WOOHOO! (please excuse the crappy pics) By my guess she's an Old Type from somewhere in the twenties. She used to have chrome plating, but most of it has disappeared through the years. But she cost me only a mere 14 euro's (shipping included). Tonight I'll clean her, so I can try her tomorrow morning! Then I'll have to think about replating. Should I have her replated? I fear she will lose the 'vintage look'.
Ah, great! I was beginning to worry. Hope you like the extra. I had some room to spare and didn't want the goodies to roll around. They're locally produced sweets, made from sugar and butter.
This will give you some idea of how it might looked plated. I bought mine cheap and sought to get it plated cheaply in nickel and it came out ok. Only minor issue is the threading between the plate and handle, though overall solid seems to be a bit worn so you might make sure its completely functionally sound if you do decide to replate. Its one of my daily shavers and with smooth blades gives an aggressive shave, I need that .
You heard the Queen! But if you ask **very nicely** I might consider PIF-ing a box. Back on topic: Tried the Gillette this morning. Great shave!
i got that exact same brush from shoppers drug mart in ontario for 10 bucks on sale...sanded it all down and stained it with mahogany....shes a beauty and lathers beyond what I ever expected!
Big thanks to HANZO (top bloke) he pm'd me after I said its hard to get th erubber sets gere in UK, he then bought 2 via ebay and 2 omega knotts and also threw in some VDH soap and 10 blades, and he also waited for my payday for me to pay him. I cant wait to start the restore on em, Im thinking of having one of the knotts as a spare and buy a badger knott next month
Here is another item that came across my desk. I have had a few come across recently. It was crusty and cranky and could not even open. After some TLC and some TriFlow, I was able to get it to move and open up. After a lot more cleaning and work this is the finished result. It still has a little bit of internal tightness when opening but the TriFlow has seemed to work out most of the issues. This one looks better in person than the photos show. The issue is this is not the only Sheraton I have, so this one may be dispositioned at a later date.
