Hey Ya'll! I am not really looking to buy this razor, mostly because I am sticking with the R-41. But I find it curious that this razor sort of looks like a Weishi, but is made in Solingen, Germany... I am getting nothing from the Googles, other than there are a number of places you can buy it, with prices ranging from $25.00 to $35.00. http://www.sears.com/mehaz-double-edge-safety-razor/p-SPM6469025102P
Sure looks like a Weishi to me, and my guess would be that it is. It might be made in Germany just like the Timor razors are supposed to be too, but I think those turnd out to be Weishi made in the end.
I don't think it is a Weishi. It has a different knurling pattern and some sort of bubble coming off of the bottom of the TTO knob. I've never seen a Weishi with that knurling and that bubble. FYI, on that Sears page it says 'Sold by Beauty Supply 4 Less' and gives an email address of orders@beautysupply4less.com so I went to beautysupply4less.com which inturn redirects to fashambeauty.com where you can find the razor at http://www.fashambeauty.com/mehaz-double-edge-safety-razor-mc1197.html for $22.48
Cool. Thanks for the replies Ya'll! I like the Fasham Beauty people. Fast service and they have many of my favorite Clubman scents. Maybe I need to place an order for Clubman and throw a Mehaz A Donut in there and give it a spin, then PIF it. Yeah, I think I need to do that now actually...
And this is the company that owns the Mehaz brand: Spilo - Established in 1942 by Charles G Spilo. His son Marc Spilo owns it now. Headquartered in Los Angeles. http://www.spilo.com/e-store/prd/brands.asp
Mehaz a donut makes a straight too... http://www.fashambeauty.com/mehaz-5-8--amber-straight-razor-mcr0058.html
Looking forward to your review Jeff. Found a small thread over at the big blue place about it, the last post doesn't give me much confidence, hope it works out better for you.
Not sure why you'd want to buy something that looks like a Gillette when you can buy a Gillette for the same price? Go with the gold standard. Red tip handle Gillette TTO.
I read that too but it does come with a lifetime warranty according to the parent company's web site.
We're always interested in trying out a new source or brand, and yes the vintage Gillette's are great razors, but there are some people that just refuse to buy and use a pre-owned razor for hygienic reasons. Good to know.
