    Thursday 9 February

TSD 2X Iced Tea Tree soap (two days in a row, left my face feeling great even after multiple outdoor jobsites)
    Gillette Milord, w/ Gillette 7O'Clock Sharpedge (yellow-thanks Scott-again, I'm liking these)
    Simpsons Berkley 46, face lather
Polar Ice splash, and Proraso ASB

A nice three pass shave, DFS. Yesterdays shave should have gotten a better rating that DFS, I was smooth for 14 hours. I was so pleased, I repeated the shave today but used the Berkley 46. That seemed to work better with the soap. I love the tea tree scent, and with 2X menthol I'm off to a great start today.

    Have a good day.

    Thursday Morning:

    Pre: Hot Shower, RSC Scrub
    Razor: 1930s Gillette Goodwill
    Blade: Voskhod (1)
    Cream: European Palmolive
    Brush: Omega 10005
Post: Thayers WH, Cold Rinse, Gillette A/S Gel

First shave with the new (to me) Goodwill that I acquired at the antique store yesterday. The first thing I noticed is that it's quite a bit milder than my Merkur 23c, and the head is much smaller than my Super Adjustable. It took a few strokes to find the angle, but after that it was great. Nice and smooth, WTG, XTG, and ATG x 2. did a bang up job this razor, but it took a bit longer than with the 23c. Perhaps this razor may do me better with a sharper blade. We'll see in a few days!

I could feel a small amount of burn right after on my jaw, but that went away with the A/S, and now its nice and smooth aside from my regular trouble spots, and it doesn't feel at all like I shaved 4 hours ago.

    Thursday

I used almost the same setup as yesterday, only changed the soap and gave the vintage blade some more honing and stropping.

Prep: hot water rinse, hot washing cloth
Music: soundtrack of Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street (love the film and the music!)
    Soap: DVH
    Brush: WS boar / badger
    Mug: Tabac
    Razor: Gillette Old Type
    Blade: vintage brandless

    3 pass shave + touch-up

Result: clean BBS :happy108:. The extra honing and stropping of the blade really payed off! :happy088:

    Have a nice day!

    Thursday's Shower and Shave
A hot shower starts the day for me.

Today continued this weeks great shaves. Today I chose the Omega "Mighty" boar, for today's lathering chore. This is a very amazing brush, that lathers hard soap or creams with total ease. Bond, shave cream was the soap choice for today.

Razor choice Gillette old style open comb, day two for the Astra blade. I always thought that the razor and blade combo specific, for myself was not needed.. I am learning that yes the blade choice for the razor choice is valid. Using the Astra in the Gillette old style open comb has made the razor excel in the shaves it has been delivering have been exceptional.

After three passes and few touch-ups, I did my usual polar water rinse and splash. Toning the face with Thayer's Witch Hazel, I followed with a brisk splash of Colonia Abre Camino.

    The :wave:gave this DFS, a stellar 10.

Al-righty then. Some catching up to do...

    Wednesday

    Prep: Hot shower
CD: Lightnin' Hopkins ~ Lightnin' and the Blues: The Herold Sessions
Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Ethiopia Illubabor, BLACK
    Soap: TSD SOTQ Winter Pagoda
    Brush: The Dridecker
    3-Piece: Fat Handle Tech
Blade: Astra SP, day 3, 3+ passes
Post: Cold water rinse, Brut ASB, Brut cologne, hand strop blade
    Shave Rating: 4 Blades

    Not bad.

    Thursday - another day closer

    Prep: Hot shower, soak brush
CD: Tommy Walker ~ Never Gonna Stop
Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Ethiopia Illubabor, BLACK
    Soap: TSD SOTQ Barber Shoppe
Brush: Ever Ready 200T with original knot
    3-Piece: Stahly Live Blade
Blade: Astra SP, day 4, 3+ passes
Post: Cold water rinse, Osage Rub, Clubman, hand strop blade
    Shave Rating: 5 Blades

Fantastic shave with one draw back - that was the last of the Barber Shoppe soap :sad024: Oh, well. Fortunately I can always get some more :happy108:

I wound the Stahly up and had it vibrating for the duration of all three plus passes. Since I really don't use this razor much, I don't know if it was the vibrating or the blade itself that made for a most excellent shave. What I didn't like was the buzz of the razor that prevented me from hearing the audio feedback I normally use to help me gauge how my shave is going.

Fast shave tonight again. Working long hours these days...
    Merkur 23C/Green 7OC
    Vie-Long horsehair brush
    Phyto Expert SC
    Nivea AS splash.
DFS+. 23C is my easyest-to-use razor, I can remember a couple of clean shaves been in 'shutted down' state of sleep. It was funny to wake up from the cold water splash and find myself in the the bathroom after the shave ;).

Razor: Ok this is embarrassing as this is one of my favorites. I have had it for a couple of months and looked it up when I got it, but sadly I have forgotten which particular model this is. I am pretty sure this is the same as the one in my Milady Decolette set. Certainly one of you well educated gentlemen can help me out with this. Great shave tonight anyway.

Iv had a lot goin on this past week guys so I have not been on very much....but here was my shave for the day!

    Arko shave stick
    Merkur34c
    Voskhod Blade (4)
    VDH Boar Hair Brush
    Lucky TIger ASS

3 pass shave 2 WTG and 1 XTG...not BBS but it was DFS!

I learned today that extra water is the key to getting Arko to give up a thick freakin lather....the past times that I have used Arko I have acheived an awesome shave with a thinner lather but I wanted my Arko to lather up like it does for the fellas on the shave videos on youtube using Arko. So i tried a bit of extra water and that stuff fluffed right up......I cant stay away from Arko....I almost talked myself into grabbing my Dublin Tweed stick from Mama Bears but I succumbed to my gut instinct and went with the Arko lol...man I live a tough life!

Prep: Warm shower with Right Guard TD 5
More Prep: J & J baby oil on face
    Razor: Merkur 1904
Blade: Merkur that came with razor (5)
    Soap: VDH Premium soap
    Brush: VDH Pure Badger
    AS: Skin Bracer Original

I hand stropped the blade the night before but it did not help much. I felt a lot more tugging on this one pass shave, even with the oil on me face. I did not care for the Right Guard total defense 5 body wash either. Glad that was a free sample. Had to finish with every man jack cedarwood bar soap.
