As you can see it needs a good clean.

I cut the knott off with my stanley knife
I boared the knott out with various drill bits going up to a 22mm (could of gone bigger but didnt want to damage the rim)
Then I used my dremmel type gizmo to get the rest of the knott out so far so good.:)

Nice to see a step-by-step restoration. Is that a pewter handle?

I did a resto on that same handle. I dropped a TGN 23mm Synthetic knot in it. Works great! I think the handle is aluminum instead of pewter, but I am not a metallurgist.

Probably is aluminium due to the weight when I think about it, I've seen the one you did in shave of the day, it looks great.

Do you use a vice to hold the handle when drilling? Never tried a brush restoration but would like to. I have my dad's old Eveready. The handle is in great shape but the knot isn't. I'd like to restore the brush for sentimental AND practical purposes.

No vice as I don't have one, just strong grip and very slow speed with the drill. I think it would be better with a vice.

You can drill the pilot hole into the center, and if you're afraid of using a dremel or a larger bit use some long needle nose pliers to break down the epoxy/resin and yank small bits out.

I got it all out (good control of drill speed helps) I'm half way through the micro mesh sanding of the handle, I have 9 different grades of paper, I know it's ott but I have spare time.

Thanks it was more or less a test restoration as im gonna do the other handle in badger, I will do more detail in the pics and show what tools Im using just in case any one else wants to have a go, i raelly like the handle shape, and is so hard to get em here in UK, hence Hanzo obtaining 2 for me and 2 omega 27mm knots (I have a spare one now)
