    Friday 24th February

    Facial Scrub
    Proraso Preshave cream
Merkur Futur loaded with a Gillette Superthin
    Kent BK4 Brush
    Mitchell's Woolfat Soap
    Alum Block
    444 ASB
    Pashana Original Eau de Cologne

Tonight I revisited my Kent BK4 brush. The BK4 is considered by many to be very luxurious but somewhat floppy. However as Kent soap is actually MWF......I would expect the pairing to produce 'the goods'. I was not disappointed. The Futur was my first 'proper' DE. I wound it open, and got a 3 pass BBS. It really is a great shaver!

    Friday 2/24/12 1332hrs

Prep: Warm shower with Old Spice Pure Sport
    Razor: Slim Adjustable (6)
    Blade: Crystal Personna Red (7)
    Soap: TSD Christmas Ale
    Brush: Tweezerman
    AS: Gabels Bay Rum

Went to the barber this morning and noticed they had AS for sale so I picked up 16oz for $5. I like it but the scent does not last as long as my other aftershaves. 7th shave and this blade is still going strong.

Nice music, nice razor! What's the plastic thingy around the tang? (if that's the name for that part of the knife... ;) )

Friday evening! That's weekend in my book!

    This morning's shave:
Prep: hot water splash, hot water washing cloth
    Music: Vangelis, Albedo 0,39
    Brush: DVH boar :love029:
Soap: DVH (almost out of it!)
Razor: Gillette Flare Tip Rocket :love029::love055:
    Blade: Derby, 5th shave
    3-pass shave
Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse
    SoS 2012-02-24.jpg
Haah, you gotta love this razor. I surely do! :) Although this is just the 5th shave with this blade and it still was a really nice shave, I'll lay it to rest. Then on Monday I can use a new blade and test it for Ggsixgun and the HHT-test.

Tomorrow and sunday it is Rolls Razor time! Yess! :bounce015:

Have a great weekend all and make it count!

Thanks! That is indeed the tang. It's a rubber thingy and used to enhance the grip-Though I'm not going to go installing these on the rest of my straights I like it.

I can imagine a grip enhancer on an open blade can be a good thing. I guess you don't want to let it slip while you're busy! ;)

    Fast Friday shave:
    Merkur 23C/Green 7OC
    Vie-Long horsehair brush
    Phyto Expert SC
    Cold water splash
    Nivea AS splash
Merkur 23C becomes a second nature. Fast, effortless, smooth shaves all the time. But the OCMM delivers the best BBSness. And I just love the luxury of my straights... Men, if I had to choose only one razor for lifetime, I just... no, I could not!

I am so happy that you are enjoying the straights. I wish that I could start back with mine. Who knows, maybe one day, I'll regain the courage! :)

The only way to do something is... well, actually to do it! That was what I did. I traded my first straight from Jeff/stingraysrock and just jump in. The Tabac SC from you, my friend, on par with DVH soap did a great job for me that time. The best thing I learnt from the very beginning is that 3 things are the main: preparation, sharpness and technique. Yes, it was a path of trials and errors, and I'm still on my way. I love that feeling - it is only you and the blade you sharpened. If it was a good shave - it is because of me and what I did. If the shave was bad - I know whom to blame :) Straights never lies and rarely forgives, and I love that. Happy shaving!
