  1. Hi there,

As I mentioned before, I prefer a mild injector, starting with the I types and later. That doesn't mean the E or G types won't be a good fit for you...gott try it yourself and see. From what I remember, the E and G types shave about the same, but it's been years since I used either of em.

    Didn't mean to spook you,

    Martin

O yeah, don't try opening either of those razors up for cleaning by using that spring to loosen up the head. It can be very tough to get things back to where they were before screwing around with it.

Thanks for the information. I think I will take this seller on this deal then. I may get a Schick adjustable yet, as well. Then I will stop my eBaying and etsying.

Martin, Are you talking about a spring in the adjustables? I don't see anything to take apart with the G. It was nice and shiny when I got it, but I Scrubbin Bubbles it anyhow.

Some of the 'E' types have a spring that will twist to one side and the jaws of the head drop open...
    None of the adjustables open...

Pictures....Pictures....And both the E's and G's and I's for that matter are all FABULOUS !!
With Schicks I say get ones you like how they look cause I've never shaved with one I didn't dig the shave....;)
The L's are the mildest and they still shave great....in my opinion....At present My '55-58 I series Hydro-magic is my fav....
But I too would like a nice E, maybe the Black handled WWII Navy issue like my Pop was issued and maybe my birth-year Schick, the G-8.
    Schicks :git:

And lindy, have you checked out the Schick Repeaters?? Too cool for school...definitly one way to instantly be the coolest cat in the room....lol

What's different about the Hydro-magic, Bird Lives?

Martin, I'm not scared away from the G, but will be careful and start out slowly and just do one WTG pass to begin with.

Also, I have that Pal Adjustable coming and some GEM's. I also just won an eBay bid for the Paul Revere handle Schick. The guy sold it, because he had a hard time shaving with it.

The 'G's for me were always great shavers...ditto for the 'E's aswell...just no pressure...but thats true for all razors...
The Hydro-magic has a lever that opens the head for rinseing the blade without taking it out...see pics:

    I like the lever idea.

Works great...although I love the E and G types aswell....I've never met a Schick I didn't dig...;) Also the I series are very good shavers on the milder side of the spectrum...

I am liking that Hydro-magic the more I see it. Like you said Lloyd, it really does give you that Astin-Martin feel. How do they shave compared to the G1? I think I understand that they are a bit milder?

I'm also a bit curious about the HydroMagic. Is its weight similar to the I1 or is it a bit heftier. I really like the weight of my E2 better than my I1. The E2 also has the release lever for better blade cleaning. I can't wait to use it more as it's only had a single shave so far.

The I series are milder than the 'G's and more aggressive than the 'J's...pretty nice balence actually, although I would like a really nice 'E'...

The weight is very much like the I1...and the aggressive factor is identicle....The E2 doesn't have a lever, but the spring can be forced to the left and the head opens for cleaning...The blade comes out aswell...You have to be careful not to loosen that spring or it won't hold the blade tight.

I think each series of Schick is very hip in its own way...I would love to have a nice 'E'...I like the Butterscoth looking and I love the Black E5 military issue from WWII. That would be my preferance if possible...I would love to have one of those....
And the G8 is my birth year Schick, so thats a must...And a fine looking razor it is too...Check out Fishcrow's... and then I would have all the razors I actually want. I already have all the DE razors I want. Actually just 3, and I will probably lose one of those....I will never part with my birth year Super Speed or my Senator, or my Schick I2....Add a nice E and G8, and thats that...Razor harem will be complete...After that just blades, and such....:)

I was very fortunate to pick mine up in the most recent traveling grab bag box. A local antique store here has one of the G's in a case for $20. I haven't bought it as I prefer the wilder razors so I figured the E would be enough, but... we will see. ;)

Which G?? Some of those G's are beautiful....Alan from Arizona is looking for the G5 I believe, the one with the clear handle...

Congrats to both of you...Those are great shavers...Hard to beat......And so cool looking....like a prop from a Cary Grant movie

I believe it to be a G1 from memory and looking at Jody's identification site. It's definitely not a G2 or 3 (metal handles), not a G4 or 5 as there is no blue at all, not a G8 either. So it's either the G1 or a G6 (the clear amber handle). Looking through those Gs though makes me wonder what a G7 is, of if there was one.

Can anyone give me the lo-down on this injector? I've looked through Jody's website and I can't find specific information on these 'samples'. There doesn't seem to be a serial number, just "patented" and "T32" on the head. The box says "SAMPLE (NOT FOR SALE)" "Est. Retail Value $1.05", made in Toronto, Canada - Schick Safety Razor Co. There's one blade in the razor and one left in the injector; would the one in the injector be safe to use? should I be worried about the plastic handle melting if I boil it?
    Thanks for the help guys!

OK I had a look at Jodys site again and realized I wasn't scrolling over to see the pictures, duh.

I just noticed while cleaning it that it had the dummy blade in it, so I'm hoping there's 3 still in the injector, and maybe it's never been used. :D

If this thing's never been used and is a complete sample kit, should I be using it? I kinda want to, but if it's better left alone as a collectable I'm cool with that too.
