I can only joke about the repeaters as I know nothing about them so I'll actually be looking forward to learning along side with you.

    Try this.

I have three repeaters, but they are for looks and I do not load them.

    I have a Type A Serial #106.

Now, I read some old threads from years past on these and saw some people stuffing regular injector blades into the head. It would be nice to get the handle to load those blades for you into the head, as in the video.

The blades are roughly the same so you can use them in the repeaters. It is just that the original magazines have been mostly discarded over time.
I have one, but I will not open it. It is pristine and I intend for it to stay that way.

To me, the true injector method with the separate loader and key mechanism really elevated this razor type in terms of reliability and maneuverability. I like these as show pieces, but I prefer to shave with the post 1934 versions. Just easier all around.

Unfortunately I believe unreliability caused Col. Schick to patent the separate injector system...but man what a piece of work...Makes me think could have been Buck Rodger's razor...:) If the magazine springs were made from modern materials maybe it's fate would have been different...But then..Hey....whats wrong with the Injectors, smaller, lighter more manueverable....

The only thing about Injectors that I see as a disadvantage is that you kind of always have to leave a blade in there...So when traveling I prefer a DE TTO...But I guess, maybe thats where the G2's come in...I always kind of guessed that the spring got lose if you opened it much...Otherwise, I don't know why they would have dropped that feature....

SO YOU GUYS WITH THE G2's....Are they easy to open and close ??? Does the spring stay tight, if you open them for cleaning, or to remove the blade when traveling ??
If the answer is yes to these two questions...send me one as quickly as possible....:happy102:

I use my types A, B, and C that way, load one blade in a clip in the handle and inject it into the head. The mechanism can jam, but I've had pretty good luck with making it work, and I like to see it in action. I don't fill up the clip with blades because I don't know that that's really the best way to store them, and I'm rotating these razors with a lot of others.

The internal clip that holds the blades was, I believe, originally intended to be disposable; each pack of the original blades would come with a new one. Many of these repeaters have an old empty clip inside that you can fill with modern blades, but they are somewhat flimsy by now, and I think that wear and tear to them can be one reason for the jamming.

[EDIT] I'm adding a picture I took some time ago which shows a type A part way through the reload operation, old blade half way out, new blade half way in.

I just tried my PAL adjustable razor with PAL blade. I tried all settings and all gave a rough shave. I tried my J1 for the second time and I had trouble with it as well. For me the GEM G bar works well and the Schick G1 works great.

I have a Personna razor with 7 Personna 74 blades in injector, still in original packaging. The razor was "free" at the time and came with the blades that cost $1.15. Has anyone tried a Personna injector razor? I think I will want to open the package and try it.

I was never really a fan of Personna Injectors although many are.....But I love their blades and those '74's are arguably the best blades EVER !! I would have to open it just to use the 74's in my favorite Injector razor....Enjoy !! I hope they knock you out!!

Glad you dig your G1...it's a great razor, of historical importance....
BTW what was the problem with your J series ?

Everybody....I posted this question with a super big mistake in typing and of course no-one answered it.I meant E2's but typed G2....So here is the question again with a correction....We want Answers!!!

SO YOU GIYS WITH THE E2's..Are they easy to open and close ??? Does the spring stay tight, if you open them repeatedly for cleaning, or for removing the blade when traveling ??

I was thinking the same thing. I want to try the Personna 74 blades.

  20. Yep, I agree with Da Boid about them blades being a top one to sample. Extremely popular ones that usually sell for around $1 each and there's always people buying em when they show up for sale.

Be careful the first time using the Personna......extremely sharp and not very forgiving blade. Maybe use it in the Schick adjustable set on the #3 setting to start with. Heh, you're in for an experience.
