What's with the crazy storms lately? I think we could all use some relaxation:

heh. the contrast between the two is stark. been here approx. 8 months and I still marvel at how different the RGV is from every area I've ever lived in.

I hope y'all don't mind if toot my own horn a bit, but I'm pretty excited about it and I have to tell someone.

About a year or two ago, I entered a photo contest that the South Dakota Dept. of Tourism was holding as part of the fall hunting campaign. It went 8 weeks with 1 winner every week. The week I entered, my photo won and we were given some nice stuff as a prize...a bowl, a collar, and some treats.

Today I was contacted by the SoDak Dept. of Tourism again, and they say they like the picture so much that they've created some advertising mock-ups for this fall's hunting campaign and wanted permission to use my photo, should they decide to go with it! How cool is that! My dog might become famous!

Here's the picture they're considering:

house full of kids, and tornado sirens start up......they're calm now, but sheesh

the kids *were* calm (we have our 2, plus another two from sister-in-law's family), then the siren went off again...nothing in the area, don't know if they were just "testing" it, or what, but it only made one "cycle", I guess you'd call it.
Radar shows to be just rain here now, though there could be some more stuff build up
