Some recent purchases... A Schick Injector with case (free, my Dad found it and gave it to me), a GEM razor ($2.50), and a Gullatt Straight. ($15.00). I had no intention of buying a straight, but the scales really caught my eye. I have no idea how good it is, or if it could be brought to shave ready condition, but I was able to cut a few arm hairs off. On one side of the blade, it says Gullatt Razor Co. and on the other it says MASTER BARBER. I didn't realize it when I bought it, but near the hinge there's quite a bit of rust. I haven't tried to clean it up yet. The GEM was so cheap I had to buy it. It cleaned up really well and seems like it's in great shape. I'll have to find some blades for it and try it out. The Schick my Dad found at an estate sale. It was really in rough shape but it too cleaned up mostly ok, but there is still some crud or corrosion that needs attention. If anyone can tell me any more details about what I bought, I'd appreciate it. Before cleanup: And here are the GEM & Schick after cleanup:
Oh yeah, I also got this beauty! It's a Semogue 1305, my first boar brush! I picked it up from The Italian Barber, along with a 5-pk of Bolzanos.
yes...its about 2lbs of sandlewood goodness...EDIT....just checked the website i ordered from...its 2lbs 12oz
have you used this soap before/yet? how do you like it? i'm on a quest for two separate scents. a sandalwood and a spice.
Just showed up from across the pond!! EDIT: It must be my lucky day. Thanks to this thread by Fishcrow, I just realized that this is not a Rocket. It is an Aristocrat Jr.... Sweet!!!
That is indeed a Rocket No. 51 set and not an Aristocrat Jr. No. 51 set. Notice the difference in the heads.
Duh: I guess I only scrolled to the Aristocrat Jr description and saw the box and got excited. That'll learn me. Oh well just got done shaving with it and it was great. Thanks Jody.
The injector bug has bitten me. This adjustable came in today. To my surprise it really looks brand new, it even has the (original, I guess) dummy blade in the razor.
Let me know what you think about this brush Brian... I have had my eye on one for about a year now, just haven't pulled the trigger!
I certainly will. I'm excited about it from the reviews I've been reading. Luke, the SOC handle is great, isn't it?! A little lighter than I expected but feels great in my hand. I have a SOC boar on the way too! This will be my 2nd 2-band so I'm curious how it compares to my Frank Shaving Finest.
