I just received this Gillette Old Type (no serial number) expecting dingy brass or have worn off gold wash. Much to my delight, it seems to have a nice gold plate finish. Looks like 24 kt gold, but that can't be, can it?

dunno know...but it is superb!

Based on old Gillette adverts I've seen, they did use 24kt and 14kt to plate their gold razors and referenced such in these adverts. Nice score BTW.

I shaved with it this morning; GREAT shave. A bit aggressive, but a close, smooth shave. I used an Astra blade.
