What colognes/eau de toilette would you recommend that give a "clean" scent? Something that gives that barbershop smell, or suggests you have just rolled out of the shower. Something subtle, but with staying power - but not too floral?
My "old school" barbershop scent has always been Pinaud Clubman. To me, it's as authentic as they get and priced very well. Paid $7.50 at the local Walgreens.
Welcome to TSD! I'd agree witth Bill that Clubman is what you've described. If you're looking for something higher end, Truefit & Hill 1805 is a more sophisticated scent in the same general family (though much more expensive).
Thanks for the response - and the welcome. The T&H might be cheaper for me - dunno if the Pinaud Clubman is available in the UK. I do note that the picture of the Clubman is aftershave lotion and not Cologne/EdT. I am specifically looking for C/EdT rather than just aftershave. I will look into the 1805. I think T&H still offers a sample pack with sample sizes of all the shave creams and aftershaves so you can try out a good variety without a big investment.
While Clubman is labeled as an aftershave, it has staying power. I've been able to smell it on me 8 hours after I put it on (and not in an overpowering way).
I agree. Didn't really pay attention to the cologne/EDT part of the question. I just know that the clean manly scent kinda lingers all day. But of course CB, you have to choose what is available to you also.
That is my absolute favorite!. I buy the Country Club size. My grandfather was a barber and nothing reminds me of the just left his shop smell than Clubman AS and I go the extra mile and use the talc as well.
I don't know if I would describe Clubman as a "clean" scent. At least to me it doesn't come across that way. I think the Pinaud Citrus Musk is more of a "clean" scent. I love it and when I wear it I definitely get whiffs of it throughout the day.
Pour Homme by Caron A Fresh Scent of Lavender, with Low Notes of Vanilla, Amber & MuskThis is what I consider a classic EdT. Some might call it dated, but to me it is a timeless fragrance. The master perfumer at The Perfume House told me that this is the best fragrance to wear before eating "because the scent of lavender stimulates the appetite." that always stayed with me.
Lolita Lempicka au Masculin is noted as having a clean smell after the first 20 minutes or so. It is a non nondescript clean, like you took a shower. It is fairly cheap for a fine cologne, less than $3o bucks on Amazon.
