Lately I've become a little bit obsessed with shaving. I have a vague idea in my head to open a shaving supply brick and mortar store in Israel. There is no place to buy quality stuff over here. I know it can take maybe years before it can happens, if I manage to convince my wife, which seems impossible. It's just an idea I've been toying in the last days, thinking about a career change. I already found the perfect location, in the old train station compound in Tel Aviv.
    Now I need a name :happy093:

Sounds like a great dream. You'll need to make the choice and weigh all the many factors involved. If it's really a passion than perhaps your dream can succeed. I'd see what my gut tells me about the whole idea. Getting a good deal on the rent also can help reduce the risk..especially at the start. And are you gonna keep it local or branch out on the net. This market is expanding all the time but is there enough trade locally for the store to work. Then there is she who must be obeyed to consider. Timing is a factor.. maybe it can go when the time is right..you'll need to see. Anyways I really wish you the best of luck if you decide to go with your idea..:transport015:

Wishing that your dream comes to a successful fruition. As for a name in that location..... "Train Your Shave":eatdrink047:

I think there is a reason that most of the shaving stores today are online and it comes down to one word... OVERHEAD!

As a business owner myself overhead is a huge component to being profitable and being able to stay in business. This summer I will be moving my office to a new location and in the process be cutting my rent by 66%. I think you could better test the waters with an online presence but maybe go to local craft fairs and home shows and the such to see what type of interest there would be in a B&M store. If it were me, I'd look to team up with a pharmacy/chemist and run my shop in there or maybe at a busy barber shop.

Thanks for the tips. I have no experience in sales or retail or store management so I will need to study a lot before even coming close to a decision. I'll need to study the local market and local shaving habits before considering anything.
