I know that many/most of us have enough blades to last 'til the next millennium, but what about things like soaps, creams, pre/post shave lotions, and scents? Being one with a tendency toward addiction and compulsion, I feel the need to have 2 new/full containers (in addition to the one in use) of what I use most. I love TOBS lavender cream, so one is open, and there are 2 "spares" to back it up. The same is true of Lilac Veg, and my other favorites. How about you folks?
You can look at my Shave Den inventory to see what I have. If I assume 1 shave per gram of product, I'm good for nearly 12 years with all my soaps & creams. The only thing I have multiples of are Cade SS (2), Provence Sante Green Tea SS (2), The Body Shop Maca Root SC (2), and C.O. Bigelow SC (2.5) I don't have a strong urge to back up on my favorites. My multiples are only a result of good deals. For a select few favorite products, I'll by more when the puck or tub I have has only 10% left. I'm trying very hard not to buy any more product, but I did pick up a tub of eShave SC today, and when the new RazoRock products hit the shelves I'll probably buy some, if not all, of those.
Well, I think I can safely say I am at least 2 years ahead in all respects... I am an odd duck, and soaps/creams fall in and out of favor without any reference to objective data... What I love this month, becomes passé' next month, but is just the thing again a few month later! Right now it is Palmolive Stick, squished down in a bowl. When I first used it, the scent turned me off. Now, I just love the fresh soapy smell. As for aftershave and such, I think I have about a dozen that see regular use, but my fallbacks are always Aqua Velva Blue, or vintage Mennen Cool Blue with an extra squirt of glycerin in the bottle - I have multiples of each of these. Maybe I'm going thru male menopause...
How true!!!! Besides, who doesn't like the feeling of getting boxes (presents) in the mail all the time with shaving goodies. My mailman must think I shave three to four times a day
You could explain to her that you doing this to: A. Look better for her B. Supporting small business' C. Your purchase are similar to her buying cosmetics
I live alone, and when talking with a friend this weekend, I told him that I consider my frequent packages and UPS deliveries to be a sort "early warning" system. In the event of my sudden/unexpected demise, uncollected packages on my doorstep would probably alert the UPS man that something is very wrong. I'd be no less dead, but at least the neighbors wouldn't have to report the much dreaded "foul smell".
Well, if you are sufficiently surrounded by good smelling shaving products, there will only be a pleasant, manly odor about you...
Haha! Very true. I could go undiscovered for a long time, as nobody ever calls the police to report a pleasant manly odor.
Got this weird Geranium soap. Don't wanna be storing too much of that..makes a great lather but now the bathroom smells like a flower shop and I'm a bee magnet. Think I'll get the Orange or Lavender next time..stock up on them..
I have way too much stuff and hardly any doubles. I'm slowly plodding through my SCs. I have 4 or 5 tubes left now, so it'll be a good few months still before I'm back to soaps.
I took a sobering look at my consumables last week. I have entirely too much stuff, but it was mostly through great deals and group buys where the prices couldnt be passed up.
Oy vey! I hired a painter to paint the house ... it was bonus time and it needed to be done. In clearing out the bathroom (and not all of it!), I ended up with a (clean and extra) cat litter box full of shave stuff, a small bucket for iced beverages, and two boxes of shave stuff ... "stuff" being soaps, creams, ASM, AS balms, creams .. lotions, colognes ... A LOT OF SHAVE STUFF! I promised myself and Trix that nothing would go back in the bathroom that we didn't use ... He was surprised since he doesn't use any of it!!
Just bought another 200 RAPIRA blades at 5.75$US for 100. Just couldn't pass it up! Did I need them? SURE I DID!!!
I have a couple of pounds of shaving soap, as I make it in big batches. And I have about 12 ounces of the pre-shave oil blend, as I make a big batch of that, too. (I scent it as we need it.)
I can't control the impulse to buy blades. At this point, I hang/mount them on the bathroom walls, where they also serve a decorative function. I change blades following every (3 pass) shave, so I buy pretty much anything, and find that they do the job just fine. I just grabbed 100 Derby Extra for $6.99 shipped. Not my favorite blades, but I NEEDED them (especially at that price).
