Here in my small city today, 3 officers were shot. 1 died. First ever police officer death here since becoming a city in 1973 so understandably, the whole city has a heavy heart.

They went to execute a search warrant. No one answered so the apartment complex manager opened the door for the officers. They went in. The perp was hiding in the bathroom. One of the officers went to taze the perp because he wouldn't show his hands. Then the perp opened fire on the 3 officers. 1 of the officers shot and killed the perp. The officer that died, Mike Walter, used to play professional baseball for the Houston Astros. He loved the San Diego Chargers (that's where he was originally from). He leaves behind his wife and 11 year old daughter. Please keep all 3 in your thoughts as well as the department and the city.

Yesterday I received notification that I passed the first year of my accounting program! I was certain I failed, but the moderators failed to agree with me. Only one exam and one more year to go!

 

Woohoo! Lately, there's been a lot of "pray for me" posts in here; it's great to get some good news once in awhile. Keep up the good work, and good luck on your next exam!

 

Thanks! The exam is in August and it is insanely hard, but having passed the first year and having gotten a really good mark from my moderators l, I have the confidence to succeed. Once I pass the test I'm laughing! It will be pretty much guaranteed that I will get my designation.

thanks for the prayers, everyone! here's some good news- got the car checked out this morning and the damage is purely cosmetic. No damage to the frame or other essential parts.

 

well, Amazon said estimated delivery date as May 2...obviously UPS had other plans...I really wanted to have my new phone in hand *before* the big Samsung event tomorrow, tempting me with the latest and/or greatest....I'm still solid on my decision, but still.....

 

I have trouble putting much faith in a parcel delivery company with a name that sounds like oops..

 

That's kind of like FedEx's logo. The arrow is pointed the wrong way. Shouldn't it be moving forward and not backward?

 

That's to represent them speeding away from you after they've just chucked your new TV over a fence.

I'm really starting to feel in shape. Need to keep it up - I'm planning to run in the Boulder Bolder 10k in a few weeks. I need to get up to the running shop in Boulder in the next couple weeks to qualify so I''m not trying to pass a bunch of people walking!

You have to hand it to them, when they drop off a package they really drop off a package.

 

Day 1 on Nexus: 14 hours on battery, with moderate voice, data, email, web, and game use, wifi on all day, fairly normal usage - still have 33% battery.....not too shabby at all

Its 6:30...on a Saturday! My wife is in the shower...I'm making breakfast...I get to wake up our girls in a few minutes. My wife has a youth group conference to go to. We get to drop her off at someones house really soon because they need to be in another city for 8. TOO EARLY FOR A SATURDAY!
