The Haul: June 4th - June 10th, 2012

Finally got some Palmolive shave sticks been meaning to try some forever.

 

They are excellent, enjoy.

 

Just got in this 1912 from eBay. In pretty good shape just needs a little clean.

 

I received my shipment of 2 New Old Stock tubes of Proraso Red from Luke (lradke) who handled our our little eBay group buy with Justin (Neolithium).

Yes, THE Proraso Red. The discontinued legend. The holy grail of Proraso soaps! Chock full of wheat and paraben goodness! Bring it on! If I could like my own post, I would!

You drool, we three rule!

 

I have been searching all over for it myself, I just bought JoAnna's wheat cream to try out.

 

Hers is excellent stuff too. I have it in the Stubble Bubble (bubble gum) and the Yin Yang (lavender and lime) scents.

 

I literally laughed out loud at this.

 

That's the first thing I'm going for when I get back home!

I got it in the vanilla bourbon

 

This weeks haul was a little heavy.

Started with a pair of straights. the one on top is a Ohio Farmer 5/8 that has a short blade. The one on bottom is a dubl duck wonderedge.


Today I had a pair of Semogue Boar brushes and a couple of bottles of Krampert's Bay Rum Aftershave arrive in the mail.


The boar on the left is a Semogue 620 and the one on the right is a Semogue 1460.

 

My order from Italian Barber showed up today.

This group buy must not have been as lucrative as the Tet or Voskhod group buys here at TSD ... I guess I will just drool then.

 

Only the predestinated can procure Proraso Red (& not the new sandalwood either). Rubbing our noses in it is like rubbing lemon-soaked salt all over a papercut. It really hurts, but isn't fatal. Perfect torture!

 

Sure would be nice to be "pre-destined" .... or at least the offer of before our noses are rubbed in the lemon-soaked salt over the paper-cut ... you know, before it hurts.

I didn't realize torture was perfect .. I will have to research that.

 

I'm betting this is about as near perfect as torture can be.

There were only 4 tubes being offered by the eBay seller. I claimed 2, Luke and Justin 1 each. In the end, thanks to always-high Canadian postage, it still ended up costing me $20 a tube but I'm not complaining at all. This is Proraso Red afterall.

We are the Order of Proraso Red! Kneel before the Italian wheat!

 

I don't know that I would have advertised a "group buy" that only three members of the larger TSD "group" was alerted to, after the fact. I'm just saying.
