COTQ NOW AVAILABLE IN THE SHAVE DEN STORE!

As some of you are aware, there was a recent thread in which forum members discussed the possibility of a "Cream of the Quarter." http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/sotq-question.29033/ For the past year or so, JoAnna has made a "Soap of the Quarter" (SOTQ). This is a secret custom scented soap that JoAnna makes four times a year for subscribers. At the end of the year, those scents become available to non-subscribers. She has not considered creams until now, due to concern over product packaging, breakage and other PITA issues.

JoAnna is now open to the possibilty of making a "COTQ" as well, once she figures out packaging costs and feasibility. Our job is to show enough interest in this to actually make this worth her time and effort.

So, forumites, would you be willing to pay for a "cream of the quarter," even if it was more expensive than the "soap of the quarter?" please post your choice and comment on it, that way if a COTQ does come to pass, you can be held accountable notified.

I would be willing to pay more, because I realize that cream packaging must be more durable than soap packaging. Given a choice between paying more, or getting less product, I would pay more.

I am not a SOTQ participant, mainly because I prefer creams to soaps.

I would gladly pay more to accommodate shipping and container costs. I'm not currently enrolled in the SOTQ but the price for that is really cheap IMO.

I do own some TSD wheat cream and I love it! Its very unique and performs really well.

Agreed very strongly with the bolded part. I can't buy 2 TSD soaps with tubs and have them shipped to me for the price that JoAnna charges for the SOTQ club membership including shipping! PLUS, with the membership I'm getting 'surprises' in the mail every few months to try out and I get a variety of scents. IMO the SOTQ club is a great value/deal, but I would LOVE to be able to get something similar going in a COTQ because I am starting to really love that cream the more I've been using it.

Thanks for continuing the conversation about this Ryan. I'd definitely be interested, and I wouldn't mind paying more than the SOTQ to do it (I can't believe SOTQ is only $23 for US--that is awesomely cheap and if COTQ doesn't work out, I think I'll join SOTQ anyway).

Just a rough estimate at this point, but.........
Cream of the Quarter Domestic (US) Subscription $34.00

That is 2 oz Wheat shaving cream in tub, 4 times a year (quarterly), 1st Class USPS shipping.

    What y'all think?

Sounds manageable for me. I'm really liking this idea, perhaps with time more cost effective methods will appear as well.

I try not to sweat TSD pricing because its handmade, and supports the forum. Several people I've introduced to wetshaving are drawn to the custom scents and products because that's half the fun. My TSD Stubble bubble soap is a great conversation piece ! And its slicker than snot.:D

:happy096: Not a big fan of creams, but I know many folks are and will certainly enjoy their COTQ membership.
I've been with SOTQ since it started and it has really been a blast.

By the way, we keep the new scent a secret for about a month. That way it doesn't spoil the surprise for those who have to wait on the mail.

For an easy comparison, an English cream, such as Trumper's, comes in a 200 gram tub. That works out to be about 7.05 oz. The cost is typically about $32 and does not include shipping.

JoAnna is charging $32 for 8 oz. and shipping is included in that price! Her creams are just as good as anything from Italy or England and even better, the scents will be a surprise! Some you will love, some you will like, and other scents not so much, but regardless, members of the COTQ club will be the first people on earth to try them! If that doesn't excite you, nothing will. This is a fantastic deal at a fantastic price.

You better sign up fast because the 3rd quarter starts July 1st.

Wow! I never expected this to actually take off this quickly! I assume the scents for the COTQ will be the same as the SOTQ, correct?

I think that's a safe assumption. JoAnna said we will start with the third quarter scent.

I have to say this is pure awesomeness to me. I feel like when I suggest new scents to JoAnna, if other people don't buy it, it's pointless for her to make it just for me especially considering the cost involved with having to buy the fragrances and they just sit there not being used. She and I haven't talked numbers but I don't think too many people were interested in my other scent, Yin Yang (lavender and lime). I've not seen anyone talk about it. And to be honest, while I personally love it, Stubble Bubble has become my favorite of TSD scents. But those are two scents - lavender and lime - she already uses in other formulas so at least I know they won't just sit on a shelf and go to waste. The bubble gum scent was something special she didn't carry before and had to order. So I'll take this opportunity again to shamelessly promote Stubble Bubble. If for nothing else other than a conversation scent. But... it is an awesome performing and fun soap to use too. I swear if it were colored pink, I'd chew on it all day! Everyone should try it at least once. The TSD store does offer sample sizes. ;)

Jody, I love the Yin Yang and I bought it on your recommendation! I think I mentioned it once, but I will mention it again, and again, and again. I was even thinking of getting the aftershave in it!
