    Wednesday:

    Face wash with Noxzema
    Proraso Pre
    MWF
    Gillette Aristocrat w/ Voskhod blade
    Semogue 620
    Razorock alum
    Thayers Original
    Floid Blue

I had a good shave,.however the Aristocrat was too mild with the Voskhod blade. I'll have to run it with a Feather blade.

    Happy 4th!

The shave this morning had two purposes. The first being to test the new Proraso Green SC and the second was to see if I could get a comfortable shave with the G Bar.

The Proraso (thanks again Jeff) is amazing! I don't think it has as much scent as the older stock, but I think the menthol got kicked up a tad. I love it! The G Bar though...I don't know how it is possible, but I cut myself several times and ended up with some irritation on my neck. I don't know about this razor...it may need to go. :(

Razor: 68 Slim Gillette Adjustable (N4) (set on 9)
Blade: Shark Super Stainless (1st use)
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip
    Cream: Williams Soap
A/S: Alum Bar & Cold Water Rinse
    A/S: Aqua Velva Musk

I hope everyone has a happy and safe July 4th. I tried out my new vintage razor today. I heard more chatter from this razor than from my 69 “Black Beauty”. I got a BBS shave from the razor, blade, and soap combination.

Prep: Tepid Water Shower, Brush soaking in hot water
    Razor: Sabi T3
    Blade: Derby Extra
Brush: 1950's Stanley Flat Top Badger Brush
    Soap: TSD Sandalwood
    Cream: TSD Wheat Cream Sandalwood
    AS: Aqua Velva Musk
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Naturally Fresh Alum, Second Rinse, Double Splash Of Aftershave.

This is a razor that I rarely shave with, in fact it has been at least three or four months since I have used it, although I use the handle often.

As you can see from the photo the head is much like a Merkur three piece except it has a larger gap and is far more aggressive.

If you are looking for a razor that is more aggressive that a FaTip, yet less than the 2011 Mühle R41, this is it. At $25 shipped, it is a steal, but be forewarned, you need to offer respect or this razor will bite you and bite you bad. I have found that I must use the same angle and technique with this head that I do with the R41, so this is definately not a razor I would use on mornings when I am rushed for time.

After one pass I have almost a DFS, I could leave the house and be presentable enough. Two passes and I had almost a BBS, closer than four passes with most other razors. I finshed the shave with some very light buffing on my neck, rinsed my face and applied the Alum. As soon as I applied the Alum, I thought to myself, "I really should not have done that" as my face felt like it was on fire. The feeling of kerosene engulfing my head quickly dispersed, so I lightly patted my face dry with a clean towel before applying the aftershave.

A healthy handful of the Aqua Velva Musk gave a slight burn, but not so much that I felt like I needed a fire extinquisher, so a second dousing was in order..ah, there was that burn again.

I feel like a man after this shave.

Guess what - I thought that I had bought 2 new Proraso Greens, well I see now that I have the OLDER version! I just realized it now, because I was hoping to try what I thought was the new version for tomorrow, and the damned box is the older one. Ah well, I'll maby give this one away and buy a new one tomorrow. I'm so happy you enjoyed your shave with the real new one!

    5/8ths, full hollow,round point
    Omega faux ivory brush
    Omega s/c
    Proraso a/s
    MaliziaVetyver e de c

This is the second of the matched pair of Army & Navy razors I picked up a month ago, and the more beat up of the two. Interestingly, it seems to be the better shaver of the two. I suppose it got used more because someone liked it better. Just shows that with vintage razors, a bit of wear can be a sign of quality.

    Have a great day

I got a really nice BBS shave today with so little effort. As always, my Super Speed delivers the ease and comfort that I look for, and the Proraso Green cream gave me its good and rich lather, its strong menthol effect, and its good moisturizing. This Gillette balsam is as cold as hell - almost, but not quite as cold as Osage Rub! ;) :D

Nice edge, great shave this morning. I used a grated Speick shave stick, love the scent but I'm unsure if Speick likes me. It doesn't if I use it in stick form. First time out with a 28mm super badger, loft set at 55mm, very soft brush and it whipped up a great lather. Very comfortable, smooth shave. Have a good one.

    VDH Glycerin Soap
    Pure Badger Brush
    '73 Black Handle w/ 7O'Clock Yellow (1)
    Warm+Cold Water Rinse
    Blue Floid AS

Quick 2 passer this morning resulting in a very DFS. It seems I can get away with a WTG/ATG shave if I shave on consecutive days. Super slick thanks to the Glycerin + oil. First try of the 7OClock yellow; sharp, smooth, good first run.
