I've used cream from the '20s so I bet that Gillette tube would whip up something nice. I know, I know, it's going in the heremetically sealed razor display vault...

Woodland Breeze sounds right up my alley, how is it?

From what I can smell through the wrapper, it should be quite nice.

This one is special guys. Very special.

My 80 year old Dad loves going to estate sales, flea markets and garage sales. He brings home a lot of crap nobody needs, but it keeps him busy and he enjoys it. He loves hunting things down for people so I casually mentioned that I've started using a safety razor and would like to find some old ones. A few weeks later he gives me a cased Schick Injector. It's a little nasty looking, but it cleaned up very well.

A couple of weeks ago I get a call from my mom. Dad had to go the emergency room for an infected foot (he was too stubborn to go in before it turn into a big deal) and was admitted to the hospital. Along with the infection, he had major blockage of blood flow in his leg. Based on initial reports and subsequent examinations, it did not look good. The blockage went all the way up past his groin and because of previous blood clots in his leg, he did not have the normal capacity for blood flow anyway. The best case we were looking at was an amputation of his leg. The worst case...well let's just say I was clearing up my calender and my sister rushed down to be with my Mom.

I went to visit him twice in the hospital. After one of my visits, my Mom asked me if he said anything about having something for me at home. She said he had bought something for me and was excited to give it to me, but if he didn't say anything, then she wasn't going to tell me about it.

Thankfully things started to improve. They gave him some "clot-buster" drugs and they worked. Soon they were talking about just amputating below his knee, then just his foot, and ultimately, they only had to remove the two small toes. This was a world removed from where he was just a couple weeks earlier. He's back to him old self, corny jokes and all. He's now in rehab for 3 weeks at an assisted living residence and will come home after that.

I finally found out what he was so excited to give me. He found a Merkur "1904" 42C, closed comb razor in one of his knife catalogs and ordered it for me. I think he saw how it was a replica of a Gillette razor that debuted back in 1904 and thought that would make it collectible. He also picked up a 10 pack of Merkur blades with it, but I told him I have plenty of blades so he didn't get those again.

I've been shaving with it the last few nights and last night had the best shave of my life with a Voskhod blade and Calani Dubai soap. It has the same head as my 38M, so I'm not surprised it does well with the Voskhod. I was surprised, however, at how much I liked the smaller handle.

This one's a keeper, and when the time is right, I'll be giving it to one of my sons...or maybe I'll wait until I can give it to one of my grandsons.

Good luck to your dad, Pat. My dad's 74, has survived lung cancer, enjoys auctions and was just telling me about some partial blockage in one leg he's got to get taken care of, too.

Went to the antique market today with me girls, to look for a gumball machine, I had seen a few weeks ago, for my wife. I didn't find the machine, unfortunately it had been sold already. :(

However I found these, for a few bucks a piece! :D

What I have here are 2, 1949 (I think) Canadian made techs. They are both in VERY nice condition and the handles both look new. The heads have a bit of wear on them, but there is no sign of brassing at all. I got these because I tend to give my razors away to those interested on using DEs; now I have some that I CAN give away.

The third razor is another successful find from this shop. It is a 1949 Aristocrat Junior (such as from the No. 51 set). It is in perfect working order, there is very little sign of wear, except for the light scratches on the head (which the photo seems to want to focus on...).

Aristo Jr! If you have not had the pleasure of using one, they are much better in my opinion that the U.S. Super Speeds. Heavier and slightly more aggressive than the Super Speeds.

    Well Played! Enjoy!

Today I bought myself a tube of the new version of Proraso Green cream. I sent my good friend Luke one of these, so I wanted to see how great this stuff is, so I'll shave tomorrow morning with it.

I haven't used one before. Although, it does look similar to the gold rocket I found 2 weeks ago. Ill be using it tomorrow to see how it goes. :) I am starting to favor the aggressive razors, so I hope it works out well! :)

I managed to talk Glen into letting me buy this razor from him. In my opinion, this is one of his nicest restores. It shaves as good as it looks too. I don't normally name my razors, but I decided to call this one "Man O' War" after the greatest racehorse of the twentieth century. The double hollow 6/8 grind is unusual and it's going to be a pain trying to find more like it. Glen even touched up the edge on his Escher hone for me as well. As an added bonus, my mother asked me what I'd like for my birthday, when I told her I was going to treat myself to this razor, she gave me the money for it! For a more detailed look at Man O' War, check out this thread: http://theshaveden.com/forums/threa...-magnetized-damascus-in-figural-scales.25352/

Well, I just had my first shave with it, and I can tell you this - it's as awesome as you say it is. Lots of menthol! :)
