I hear you. Wish I could do the menthol bit. My wife loves the menthol. What's nice about the Gold Dachs Spezial is that I get a clean, refreshing feel when I'm done. About as close as I'm going to get ... sigh. My tallow based soaps leave a different type of sensation. Must be the vegetable base that I like in the Gold Dachs.

I've never used it, but that Tabac soap looks like it whips up some beautiful lather! Always enjoy your pics. Nice and simply perfection! What is the scent of the Tabac soap?

 

Well no need to shave today. Just starting to get sand papery. Going to have an Omega warm lather to start of my Wednesday! So here is how my day went

Fighting my way through rush hour traffic yesterday, I sat back and ran a knuckle through the 5 o'clock shadow to lazily listen. Like velcro. The pitch and intensity confirmed that the morning's shave was truly just DFS. My attention was drawn to the direction of the grain above and below the jaw-line. For the first time, I noticed that it runs contrary to where I've always thought it had! A quick check confirmed that everywhere else was pointing in the expected direction. All this time, I've been going slightly xtg when I thought it was wtg ... and slightly atg when I thought it was xtg. No wonder a little discomfort has occasionally been manifest just below the jaw-line.

Armed with new knowledge, I attacked the full compliment of passes this morning with fervor. Close. Comfortable. No-touch up needed along the jaw-line. That works!

I had a day off today so I decided to try my new inexpensive plastic Wilkinson Classic. I was pleased that although the razor is mild, it can achieve a BBS shave. The Wilkinson blade wasn't too bad, about average on the sharpness scale. Still trying to get used to the big H.I.S synthetic. I had to press down quite hard to get the bristles to spread out. :-( A nice cold water rinse was followed by the Baxter's ASB. Very soothing and it smells like a spa! Lemon grass I think, plus a bit of menthol. Very nice. Finished up with Brut.

I took my time and got a BBS shave, However, there was some minor irritation from having to push down hard on the brush, and the less-than-feather-sharp Wilkinson blade. No complaints though!

 

I didn't think I'd care for it, based on some of the comments I'd read, but it's really quite pleasant.

I use TABAC and MWF almost exclusively, as they are two excellent tallow-based shaving soaps!

Nice shave this morning, smooth and close. The star of this mornings shave was the brush, it's rapidly turning into a favorite. It just ate up the MWF producing a great lather.

The Russian version of Viking Fresh is an excellent cream which smells very manly, and it produces tons of rich, stable lather, and gives a nice cooling effect. The Gillette Series balsam and the Alcolado Glacial will keep me cool all day. Today's shave was wonderful.
