Blind Blade Test, Shave of the Day (SOTD) Friday August 3, 2012

Prep: Brush soaking in hot water, face scrub with TSD Sandalwood soap, Tepid Water Shower
Razor: 1965 Gillette Slim Adjustable set to 9
Blade: Blind Blade Test Blade #6, Shave #1
Brush: VIe-Long LE Beehive Natural Horse Hair

Post: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Rub, Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash Of Aftershave.

This is day fourteen of the blind blade test, which is the first shave with blade number six.

Per the guidelines of the test I will not be posting my results of the blade, as we do not want other participants to be influenced by our own shaving experience. At the end of the test I will be posting my complete daily journal.

All variables remain the same accept for the aftershave, which today is Aqua Velva Musk.[IMG]

Prep: Just Noxema and hot water today
    Razor: My trusty Merkur 34c
    Blade: Rapira (1)
    SC: Tabac
    AS: TSD sandalwood

Today's shave was many firsts for me. I normally shave after my morning shower but decided to shower last night. Tried my tabac sample from TSD. WoW, this stuff is fantastic! The smell is unique (hard to describe but finishes with a subtle manly scent), explodes into buttery smooth cushioning lather, and the skin care for me was a 10 out of ten. I'm very impressed. The rapira blade was also a first for me which gave me an outstanding shave as well. I made four passes with zero irritation and an unusual for me BBS. Followed up with GFT limes skin food and TSD sandalwood with two drops of TSD M Bomb :Animatedfrozensmily:Wow baby! This was one of my top 3 best shaves ever. I am fighting a very strong urge to buy enormous amounts of all of today's shave. I better start buttering-up SWMBO :angry019::shocked002:

    55’ Gillette Red Tip
    Ladas (d2)
    Arko Stick + Tabac
    Tweezerman
    Osage Rub
    Stephans Island Lime
Result: Feels like a BBS on 3 passes + neck touch-up. I rubbed some Arko on the neck before lathering over-top with Tabac and got an incredible super lather. Not that Tabac needs any help. But the result, especially on my tender neck and its wire-like stubble, was phenomenal. I may have to do this "Arko-Prep" more often. Side note: I gave in to RAD and ordered a 37C Slant. I held off for over a year on razor additions, but getting into straights this summer re-ignited RAD.

My dear friend Dmitry sent me another gold medal winner cream from Russia which is so rich in lather and skincare. This stuff soothes and protects my sensitive skin so well, and it gives great blade glide. The Phyto Expert balsam has a nice cooling sensation, and it adds a lot of extra protection. This cream and balsam are produced from 100% natural ingredients so there is nothing in them to cause any potential skin damage. The Aqua Velva aftershave felt nice and cold afterwards. My shave results could not have been better. Sorry for not showing any pictures today. ;) :D

    Pre shave - Arko
    Razor - Filarmonic SubCero #12
Strop - 3" Snake, Shell Cordovan & Genuine Linen Hanging Razor Strop
Brush - New Forest Tubby 1 Finest Silvertip
    Soap - Mike's Unscented
A/S - Boots Witch Hazel gel followed by Tabac A/S lotion

OK, new soap...... just couldn't get the lather right!! Should have used the 'Duke', that is my goto brush for MWF/KENT. Had to salvage the shave by finishing off with the Merk + Astra... but the end result was still BBS with no irritation.... surprisingly, it turned out to be a fantastic shave. :) Need more time with Mike's soap, which left my skin feeling great...can't wait to get it right!!

Wow! First shave since Tuesday night. This morning I used the old Red Personna in the razor for the firstpass, to take off the thick growth. I wanted the Schick to have a good chance to prove itself.

Prove itself it did. Everything about the shave was fantastic! The blade was very smooth and forgiving, but very sharp! I am a fan of these...to bad I only got 25. :( The shave soap...I am completely taken back! I like it much more than the regular TSD soap. It is very easy on my skin, really easy to lather, and the slick is amazing! :) Great job JoAnna and the testers! You came out with a fantastic product!

This was the perfect way to start my weekend...Oh! I should ad the scent is lingering and I have been smelling warm spices all morning! :)
