  3. Thursday, 9th August - Singapore National Day and also my first shave since fatherhood kicked in for me:

    Musgo Real pre shave oil
Martin de Candre scented shave soap
Muehle Basic Nr. 02 shave brush with Silver Tip Fibre
1960 British Gillette Flare Tip Rocket
    Feather blade (3rd shave)
    Bloc Osma Alum
D.R. Harris Bay Rum after shave
  4. August 9 2012

    Kabeso
    4/8ths, full hollow, spike point
    Omega Professional boar
    Omega s/c
    M&L Florida Water
    4711 e de c

This razor came from a barbershop in my neighbourhood, sold up when the barber retired. It looks to be from the 50s, with cracked ice scales that carry a simple inlay saying "Kabeso" in a diamond cartouche. It shows years of careful use and maintenance; it's a pleasure and an honour to have it in my collection.

    Have a great day, everyone

  5. Thursday, August 09, 2012, Shaving Ritual

Razor: 68 Slim Gillette Adjustable (N4) (set on 9)
Blade: Blind Blade Test Blade 8 (1st use)
    Brush: Semogue 830
    Bowl: Homemade Scuttle
    Cream: TOBS Sandalwood
A/S: Alum & Cold Water Rinse
    A/S: Aqua Velva Musk

Today is day one of blade eight in the Blind Blade Test.

  6. Thursday:

Hot shower / Wilkinson Sword shave stick / Semouge 620 / EJ DE89L w/ Voskhod / RazoRock alum / Thayers WH / Aqua Velva

Today's shave was rough. I didn't use any pre-shave product however I gave my face a good soak and wash in the shower. I'm thinking it might be the blade. 4 shaves with the Voskhod may be pushing it.

Last shave on the Schick Plus Platinum. It performed very well. Now on to test Ladas in all my razors to see if I can find a razor they work well in.

The Good Fortune SS was something I found a day or two after my very first DE shave. I was excited to find it at the time. Just $3, down from $6. It's a combination body, shampoo, and shaving. At the time I didn't realize that a multipurpose soap doesn't shave well. I finally tried to lather it up last night and while initially I thought it was going pretty good, it all collapsed in short order. Great scent, though, so it's now in the shower as a bath soap.

Last shave with my NB SC sample. I'll miss that stuff.

  8. SOTD Thursday August 9, 2012

Prep: Brush soaking in hot water, face scrub with TSD Sandalwood soap, Tepid Water Shower
Razor: 1965 Gillette Slim Adjustable set to 9
Blade: Blind Blade Test Blade #8, Shave #1
Brush: Vie-Long LE Beehive Natural Horse Hair

    AS: Aqua Velva Musk
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Rub, Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash Of Aftershave.

This is day twenty of the blind blade test, which is the first shave with blade number eight.

Per the guidelines of the test I will not be posting my results of the blade, as we do not want other participants to be influenced by our own shaving experience. At the end of the test I will be posting my complete daily journal.

All variables remain the same accept for the aftershave, which today is Aqua Velva Musk.

No picture today as I am bored to death of taking pictures of the same gear.

  11. Thursday -- a TSD shave

    Wash - TSD unscented soap
Lather - TSD unscented wheat cream
    Brush - HIS synthetic
    Razor - Schick injector
    Blade - Schick
Aftershave - TSD unscented aftershave milk

The injector is always a pleasure to use - smooth, close, easy. Three passes, BBS, no irritation.

I was happy to discover that my TSD unscented soap is very kind to my sensitive face when I wash with it. The TSD wheat cream makes an slick lather. I am looking forward to trying JoAnna's new lanolin soap very soon (the order is in!).

    Polsilver Blade
Rudy Vey Vintage Restore w/Finest Badger
    Cella
    TSD Iced Cracklin' Firewood Splash
    Lab Series Balm

-this razor is so efficient, even the 2nd pass may have been a bit overkill-bbs after 2 passes.
  14. Thursday
    Dovo 5/8" Best - Illinois #127 Strop
    Semogue 1520
    Proraso White (New Formula)
    Floid Blue
    Foad's Moustache Wax

Been sick as a dog yesterday and still feeling it today but I couldn't skip another day of shaving it was driving me insane - probably not the best idea when one is shaky with the flu but my Naniwa/New Strop made this razor smooth as butter and mowed down the day and half growth like it was nothing.

Soap: VDH Select + 2 drops Em's Place Woodstock EO

Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Dickenson's WH + 2 drops TSD M Bomb, Pinaud Clubman, hand strop blade
    'Stache Wax: Steve's Own

A much better (closer) shave with the '55 Red Tip than yesterday's shave with the '55 Blue Tip.

  17. Yeah, at that point I'd have been reaching for a Superspeed!
I'm glad it worked out though, and I hope you're feeling better soon.

    Best Regards

  20. Thursday Morning

With a mind preoccupied with work ...

Pre (warm shower ... forgot Eucerin until I was already in the shower. Too late.)
    Simpsons Milk Churn
    MWF
Pre (since I forgot Eucerin ... lather with MWF followed by a hot towel ... re-lather for passes)
    Merkur 23c w/ Astra SP
Post (Cetaphil, cold water rinse, Nivea Sensitive Lotion)

BBS- by means of wtg, xtg, atg. Good enough. Comfortable enough. My mind will be more with it tomorrow.

It was literally snowing ash last night from a nearby wildfire :think002:. Bizarre.
