There was a comiccon in a nearby town this weekend. I got to meet General Motti, the first guy Vader force-chokes in A New Hope. I also got to meet Joltin' Johnny Lucas; even picked up a signed piece of some of his inkwork for my nephew's christmas present. Saw lots of toys I had when growing up, so it was like nostalgia city. Also found out we have a local roller-derby, so yeah, some of the costumes were... distracting.
Comiccon and Roller derby? Some guys have all the luck. I support my local Derby team whenever I can! Even the kids get into it:
Had a checkup today. My blood pressure & cholesterol are in the healthy range & my asthma is under good control. Can't ask for more!
I made salmon for the first time ever today. It was a huge success and even my kids liked it! I haven't had fish for about 8 years, but this is a step towards eating healthier meals in my house. I have to say it was a bit weird, but it will grow on me. The next step is cod!
^ real simple and yummy recipe for salmon: coat with olive oil, cover in fresh crushed garlic (to taste) and grill
Last time I did Salmon, I used balsamic, garlic, and dill before grilling. Was better than the standard OO, garlic, and basil I use.
Got the kids off to thier first day of school this year! ( they may debate about it being positive)! Got the day off work! Got a chuck roast in the crock-pot! What to do now? Oh yeh.... about to have a nice shave!
Figured out how to dissolve the menthol crystals into my witch hazel faster, so I am feeling cooler. (What I did was to just run the container under hot water for a couple of minutes.)
This isn't about me...but I think it is AWSOME nonetheless...I can hardly work because I am so excited about it! My cousin competed in and completed the Canadian Ironman yesterday. He did it in a little under 13.5 hours. For those who don't know the ironman, this is what he had to do: Swim: 3.8 km Bike: 180 km Run: 42.2 km My cousin has always been a hero in my eyes, he is the only one close to my age, and still he's about 4 years older than me. He has always been toned, but a few years ago he was wirey. I saw him a few months ago at his parent's birthday party and he doubled in size (says it is because he's a chiropractor...does this happen Brian?). And then he goes and does this. Needless to say my insane level of respect for him just went to new heights! CONGRATS DAVID!!
Just completing it sounds like one heck of an accomplishment all by itself. Congrats to your cousin. It's 0.6214 miles to 1 kilometer. You can work the rest out, no?
3.8 km = about 2.4 miles 180 km= about 112 miles 42.2 km = about 26 miles I think anyway. I'm not great with the metrics.
Um... thanks, but uh... I was being sarcastic... those Crazy Canuks and their funny ways of measuring things, ya know.
