Most of us around here shave "retro" with DEs, SEs, or straights and use fountain pens, windup watches and so forth. If you were working "back then," what would be your retro job of choice? Me? I'd love to be a radio actor.
I would probably go with my grandfathers first job a pin monkey at the families old wax 5 pin bowling alley in new Brunswick its long gone but if were going back to the old days either that or a trapper on the old trade lines across Canada
Either an old throwback fighter that fought every week, sometimes a few times a week and work as a machine man or some sort of laborer as my day job.
We could always use more of them nowadays. Even if you aren't much if of a cook, just using a good butcher brings the meat to a whole new level.
If I had the chance I would go into watchmaking in a heartbeat! I couldn't afford the tuition as an international student so I got a business degree instead at a local tech school...but I LOVE the Swiss movement in watches! Oh to create time.......(I could go on for hours, so I'll just stop here) But yeah, I'd be a watchmaker!
Same thing I do now (locomotive engineer) although I'm not sure I'm tough enough to work the way those guys did. But they do tell some fascinating stories! Choochooooooo!
I can see you doing that! Especially if you were to have your moustache! Then you'd fit the bill perfectly.
Oh, lots of thoughts and ideas for this, but I'd like to be the guy behind the candy counter at an old general store.
