    Gold Dollar
    6/8ths, full hollow, round point
    Vie Long Cachurro horsehair
    J M Fraser's original scent s/c
    Proraso Dopo Barba a/s
    Givenchy Vetyver e de c

I can't quite make up my mind about the Givenchey cologne. It has a scent rather like new mown grass, but earthier - more like high quality hay
I find it wants a little sweetness from the aftershave to round it out. That kind of scent isn't really my style, but there is something appealing about it; it reminds me of days spent on haywagons stacking bales and those are good memories.

The Gold Dollar and it's mate have become standbys in my rotation. Their biggest drawbacks are the speed at which they lose their edge, and their tendency to over-hone, but both those things are easily remedied.

A very nice shave this morning! :)

    Have a great day everyone

    Friday

Prep: Hot shower, AoS pre-shave oil
CD: Glen Kaiser Band ~ Octane
Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Malawi Mapanga AA, BLACK
Soap: TSD SOTQ A3, Jelly Donut + 3 drops M Bomb
    Brush: Vulfix 406, The Burlington
    Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade: Astra SP, day 5, 3+ passes
Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Dickenson's WH, Sean John Unforgivable
    'Stache Wax: Firehouse Wacky Tacky

My very first TWS set up was with a VDH brush and soap, still using carts.
I liked it, so I decided to buy a "real" brush and purchased a Vulfix 406, the Burlington.
The Burlington was used today, along with my first DE, a Merkur 34C.
    A magnificent shave.

    Friday's Shower and Shave feature.
For some reason this week has been out of snyc and with rushed mornings. A quick shower this morning.
To begin my shave I prep my face with Prairie Creations pre-shave soap
RazoRock Caco, was the spotlighted soap for today. The featured brush for today's lather maker Omega "48"
Razor and blade change up today. Razor today was from the beginning of the last century, Gillette old style open comb. Blade choice was a vintage Adams.
The shave was definitely a change, not nearly as smooth as a shave with a modern era blade.
Two passes today then a cold water splash, alum, Fitness. A DFS achieved.

    Everyone have a great weekend!!

    Gillette New LC Federal
    Astra SP (d1)
    DR Harris Arlington
    Vulfix 2235 Super
    Aspen (Coty) A/S
Result: This is my first use of an Astra blade in over a year and a half, before I did bulk buys on Supermax Stainless, Voskhod, Rapiras, etc. Today's shave reminded me how fine a shaver the Astra is, especially for the price.

Had me a great shave. Close to BBS. The vintage Williams performs great! Quite a difference from the new Williams.

    Have a great weekend!

My brother-in-law is visiting us. He bought a new Hongarian bow on vacation. We'll do some archery this afternoon! Weehee! :happy108:

Omega Silver Handle (yes, a new brush!)
    Super Speed/Sharp day 6
    Noxzema SC :love055: :love055::love055: :love055::love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Booster Polar Ice AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:

I finally threw away my Omega Wooden Handle because it was starting to shed hairs like crazy, and I bought this Omega Silver Handle which works beautifully. The Noxzema cream felt so cool and delightful on my face, and the scent made me feel so nostalgic. My wife gave me a hell of a nice "compliment" when she smelled the Polar Ice aftershave - she told me I smell like an old barber! (She still gave me a big kiss!) This shave was a big pleasure. ;) :D

First OC shave today and loved it.

Non-branded English made Old style copy with Gillette Fat Tech handle and BIC Chrome blade
    Ingram shave cream
    Vulfix 404 'Bodger'
    James Bronnley Original AS
    Astral cream

No irritation or nicks but need to get a little closer on neck. Pretty good though and really want to try both the long and short comb New Gillettes. This frankenrazor could well become my ideal travel combo. Vintage Gillette OC's and even some of the copies look stunning and have a real air of history about them. When you see some of them lashed to a custom handle like the UFO's or Bob's Razorworks (RIP), they look utterly amazing. I'm hooked.

    Just a simple shave today...

    sotd-sep-22.jpg
    • Prep pre-shave cream
    • Van Der Hagen - Glycerin soap in my Old Spice mug
    • Frank Shaving Corfe (21mm) - Finest Badger - Ivory color
    • Yuma razor with PolSilver Super Iridium (3rd shave)
    • Nivea Sensitive AS balm
    • Old Spice AL lotion
Have to wake up at 4:40 tomorrow morning for work so I am shaving before going to bed today. And yes, I do sometimes put aftershave on before going to bed, LOL! It's been a good week of trying out some of my different Frank Shaving badgers.

    Cheers, Lyndon

Saturday shave (since I have to work, I made use of the alternate Den...)

    Musgo Real pre-shave oil
    Calani Lavender shave soap
    Semogue #1305 boar shave brush
    Schick Injector M1 Adjustable
Personna Electro-Coated Vintage Injector blade (1.)
    Bloc Osma Alum
    Speick Men after shave

First time in over 2 months that I have used the Injector again and finally managed to load one of the blades I have not been able to try yet. When I first started to use Injectors, I bought myself 4 different blades – 3 Vintage & 1 modern. And I have not been happy with the Vintage ones. Had high hopes for the Personna Electro-Coated ones after I was sorely disappointed by the ‘Golden Swedish Steel’ ones. But no, none of the vintage ones got even close to the smoothness of the modern-day Personna PFTE-coated blades in the non-descript dispenser.

    The shave:

The disappointing blades (in the forefront):

Got a bit of thing for Old Spice and that bottle is much nicer than the current one on the go in the UK. You have a member here (but I don't know what his user id is) that sent me some vintage Shulton OS cologne and I love it! Way better than today's stuff and I don't care what the doubters say. Its more tart and more natural smelling with more depth to boot.
