Weird shave this morning, half my face is BBS, the other half not so. I either ran out of edge or had poor technique. I'm thinking poor technique, we'll see. I've been missing some of my bigger 2 bands so I made a handle (not buffed and finished yet) this morning. It will have a 28mm knot, 2 band Finest, probably set around 56/58mm. Have a good one , I have some scales to make today.

I received a Parker shavette yesterday and decided to give it a go this morning. The right side was easy to do but I managed to successfully get the weeper under the left ear! It wasn't as bad as I thought, but boy did that one sting! :O I finished the first pass and did the second one with my aristocrat Jr. I think I'll watch some vids and do some dry practicing before attempting it again. ;)

It was fun and I did get a dfs today, so it was an adventure and a success! :)

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Saturday September 22, 2012
    [IMG]
Prep: Brush soaking in hot water, face wash with Noxzema Triple Clean, warm shower
    Razor: Cadet TP-26 Closed Comb
    Blade: Shark Super Stainless
    Brush: Semogue 620 Boar
    Soap: Lea Sensetive Skin
    AS: English Leather
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash Of Aftershave

Today's shave it with products that any wet shaver can easily afford. The total cost of all products pictured is less than many would pay for one razor.

The Cadet TP-26 Closed Comb is virtually identical to the R89/DE89 head. Combine that with the weight of the solid brass handle and it really out performs it.

Although Sharks are one of the least expensive blades that you can buy, I find them to be one of the most enjoyable. Sharp, smooth, great whisker reduction and irritation free.

My love of Semogue Boar's I can blame on Brian (SharpSpine) and Johnny. For me they are everything I look for in a good brush.

Lea has become one of my favorite brands of shaving creams, both this and the mentholated will always be part of my rotation. The lather which is produced rivals that of many more costing two to three times the amount.

English Leather although inexpensive smells and performs great. Every time I put it on, I get a "you smell great" from my wife. That is enough for it to always remain part of my rotation.

Was going to break out a straight but I'm still having issues with my shoulder so I went to the Fatboy since its efficient without needing the dexterity of a straight razor.

I'm moving soon so I'm trying to use some things that are open and some razors with blades with shaves left on them. I broke out the injector to try to use up that blade. I think it has quite a few shaves left in it though. I used KMF Bamboo and Green Tea so I could close the pump without wasting some cream. I used some of my homemade Nivea Balm/Aqua Velva to close the pump bottle I put it in. I figure I can do this for the next week or so and pack most of it and jut use some creams for the remaining time. Still had a DFS even when I let my den choose the stuff for me.

Hey Luke how was your first attempt at loading the blade? It took me a few a little while before I got it right lol.
I have never got my ear with the shavette but when using a straight once I set the tip of the blade inside my earing hole on my left ear ( it's stretched to 00 gauge) lucky I caught myself. I still got a cut that took about 5 min with the Styptic to get it to close up but it could have been a lot worse.

I am glad you enjoyed your adventure and that SWMBO didn't steal the shavette away from you before you had a chance to use it!

The shave was pretty good. I'm going out for my friend's 21st tonight so this was a good combo to start my afternoon off right.

Loading it was no problem, honestly I didn't think it would hold the blade as good as it does. Luckily right noe my wife is too busy sewing to care about my shaving habbits. The only part she cares about is the smell from the soap and aftershave. I honestly don't know how I got myself with it?! I was just going N to S... Anyway, ill be trying it again soon (maybe tomorrow...lol).

Sunday, 23rd September – Race Day here in town!
    And me; back at work...

    The shave prior:

    Musgo Real pre-shave oil
Martin de Candre scented shave soap
Mühle Basic Nr. 02 shave brush, Silver Tip Fibre
    Cadet TP-26 OC
    Feather (2.)
    Bloc Osma Alum
    Musgo Real Classic after shave

A bit disappointed by today’s shave. Nicked myself several times good with the Cadet / Feather combo, which is rather unusual. Did not enjoy the shave, aside from the nicks, the overall feeling is best described as ‘rough’. I’ll give it maybe one or two more shaves with a fresh Feather blade and if it doesn’t improve, the Cadet will be up for grabs in the Marketplace.

My man Luke sent me this sample of the MdC soap and does it ever lather like a maniac and smell nice, however it also irritated my skin quite a bit - in fact I started to feel an uncomfortable tingle as soon as I was ready to begin the first pass, and I was debating washing it off right away, but I decided to go through with the shave anyway. The results were awesome - I'm as smooth as a baby's tukhis, and the Hega aftershave got rid of the irritation in no time, but that soap is not for me. It's a good thing I found out now instead of buying a whole container of it.

Decent shave this morning but the razor will revisit the hones before the next shave. I really like the Windsor shaving soap, same great Harris performance with an excellent scent. A little more scale work and blade refinishing today and with a little luck a couple of new straights will be in rotation soon. Have a good one.

    Parker SR1
    Gillette No 51
    Personna Med/Crystal
    Colonel (Manchurian)
    Martin de Candre
    Lucido AS

It was a decent save this mrning. I did the first pass with thebl parker and that went much better. I held it like a Japanese straight, an not like the traditional style it is. It worked much better for me and I didn't cut myself nearly as bad as yesterday. :) The second shave was done with my aristocrat Jr.

I have some irritation and some pink spots (lol), but those I can live with.

    Happy Sunday!
