My first menthol shave. Whipped up a great lather. Slick & creamy. Effortless. But then the application and the shave. WOW! Now there's a difference with other (non-mentholised) soaps & creams! I'll have to get used to it! Since it is my first menthol cream, I can't compare its "mentholishness" with others, but it is enough for me. It is so differ ent from other lathers that I just can't tell yet if I like it or not. Second try tomorrow!

    Have a great day, all!

A great hot shower to start the day.
Featured soap today RazoRock "Don Marco".

Day three for the duo of the 20's Gillette OC and Super Max Platinum.
After three comfortable passes, cold water splash, alum, and the finishing touch Don Marco balm.
Today's shave was as close to a BBS DFS.

    Everyone have a super weekend.

    Oct 5th, 2012. Woo!

Prep: Applied Proraso Pre/Post Cream and got in the shower, reapplied.
    Brush: Semogue 1305
Razor: '48 Super Speed (First time use.)
    Blade: Personna Lab Med Prep.
Soap: TSD Lanolin English Fern (First time use.)
Post: Cold water rinse, alum block, cold water rinse, Thayer's Witch Hazel Rose, Juicy Couture Dirty English.

I'm not sure what to say about this shave. The shave was good, but the soap burned. I know it's not the lanolin because I've used it before with no problem. The soap went on smooth and didn't start getting hot til the second pass. Hmmm. The razor was good, I think the perfect medium.

Try it a few more times. Sometimes it takes the face a bit to get used to something new. If you are still having problems then, send me a PM. It's one of my favorite scents, perhaps we can work out a trade.

I am love, love, loving my Cadet OC. :love029: I was very hesitant buying an open comb as I heard they can be more aggressive. I am so glad pulled the trigger. This one is by far my most aggressive razor, but I haven't had a bad shave yet! I'm hooked!

    • Prep PSC

Well me and the Piccolo got along a bit better his time! I would rate the Piccolo as "aggressive". Not over the top, but it definitely in the aggressive range for me. I like the Irish Moos and I did a combination of face and bowl lathering. The lather bowl is just a small glass food bowl with one of those plastic snap down lids. It is great for traveling and surprisingly it is one of the best bowls I have used with synthetic brushes. Must be the combination of smooth glass and synthetic hair that does the trick. I managed not to nick myself with the Piccolo, but I did have a couple of pinches. I probably could have got the job done in two passes, but where's the fun in that! :) The EJ Sandalwood ASB is not one my favorites but it is soothing. The Floids is always a nice way to finish but today it did sting a bit. I think tomorrow I will have to give my face a break, but the day after I will give the Piccolo another go.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Cheers, Lyndon

    Pre-Shave Lather: Dalan D'Men Sensitive
    Pre-Shave Oil: None
    Shave Lather: Tet-A-Tet SC

    Blade: Personna Super (1)
    Brush: Vulfix 660S Medium
Post: Witch Hazel/Rum/Aloe/Glycern mixture followed by Kistna TSB

WOW! I was blown away by this shave. I set the razor to 3 and expected a mild shave, but what I didn't expect was how effective it would be. Absolutely no irritation as the razor glided across my face.

Tet-A-Tet...I love this stuff! The scent is a bit different, but I've grown to like it.

Up early this morning so I figured I'd get a good start to my weekend. Nothing gets me closer to BBS than spending an hour with my GEM 1912!

    Hoooooot hot shower.
    Proraso Pre-shave
    Proraso White Soap
    30mm Copperhat Silvertip
Gem 1912 w/ new Gem SS blade
    Floid Blue

We've got a travelling box going across Canada and it's my week to have my way with it. The 30mm Silvertip brush from The Copperhat is BY FAR my favorite thing out of the box. I love it, I want one, real bad ... I hope my wife reads this :)

Happy Thanksgiving my fellow Canucks, and to the rest of you, have a great weekend!!!

Arley, the majority of Bulgarian creams which I've used have menthol, but it is so minimal that you cannot feel any cooling, or very, very little cooling. Then again, most menthol creams aren't as cooling as the Lea Menthol, yes? ;)

Comfortable and cose DFS++. Almost BBS. Nice shave. Got a bit more used to the menthol. Yesterday's lather was better, though. Guess it may be 'cause of the boar brush. Tomorrow the badger again. See if I'm right.

    Have a great weekend!

Inspired by my man Dmitry in Russia, I decided to use this lovely cream which is made by the same company as the great Tet-a-tet, Everest, and Phyto Expert creams. www.kalina.org produces some of the finest shaving stuff a man can find. What a wonderful shave I had - the Nord-ost cream lathers like a champ, smells really nice, and gives a very mild cooling effect which the Svoboda balsam intensifies. ;) :D

    Mr. Taylors
    homemade brush (28mm)

I'm going to hate to take the Kropp out of rotation. I've had very good shaves this week with it. It's been almost week straight with creams and I seem to be reaching for Mr. Taylor most often. While I don't think the performance is quite up to the Simpson SC, the scent is great, IMO. Hopefully, I'll bring the last of my ebay razors into rotation tomorrow if I can complete the scales today. Have a good one.
