Dude, that's not such a bad purchase. I just hosed my self the other day by buying a 1906 single ring for 43$. I thought this was the first year single rings came out. So, I bought it for historical collection purpose value. The first single rings were produced in 1905 ! So I just paid 43 bucks for a 10 dollar razor.
No, you paid $43 dollars for an interesting gold plated brass paperweight. Doesn't that sound better? Ouch. Did the seller mislead you or did you not do your research? If you bought it on the bay, people usually have a fourteen day return policy.
Wish I could get deals as good as that for razors like that but most things seem to cost more over here.
Hey there young shaving dude! If at any time you feel bad about the razor, I will buy it from you for $25 and I will pay for the shipping. That way you can relax and enjoy the razor. If in the end you don't really like it, I would be happy to buy it from you. I have introduced several friends and family members to traditional shaving and I am always looking for a good gift. Cheers Ryan... Lyndon B&B, hmm... I was banned before I was even registered. LOL! That must be some kind of record!!
That's why we have a "want to buy" section in our forum. Some of our members don't mind shipping stuff overseas. Heck, I sent a razor out for a group of members to try out...first stop, the Netherlands.
Great stuff. I need to control this RAD, I must control my RAD, I must, must........ oh, what the hell!
I didn't do my research ...... I honestly thought single rings came out in 1906 ????:? But I was wrong......
@ Ryan; you done good, Bro--I like to think of my purchases of "durable goods" in terms of amortization... Let's say you shave, for sake of the discussion, 300 days over the next year. Your cost, absent the blades and other shave necessities, is only $0.06 cents per shave... This prize will last you way many more years, and it will bring you a lot of shaving satisfaction. @ Jeraldgordon; the $5 Super Speed is still out there, in spades--you just have to look beyond the Internet. My wife and I enjoy "shopping" at estate sales and similar sales, typically on a Saturday morning. Your local paper and Craigslist postings will help you find them. In the last three weekends, I have found 3 Super Speeds (2- 1956 Red Tips B1 & B2, a 1965 K4), and a c1946-1950 (no date codes) gold-plated ball-end Tech in like-new condition. I am out less than $10 for the lot... So many people are happy to get rid of gunk-encrusted "bathroom junk" for a song; a thorough sanitizing and some TLC, and you can smile like that guy on the male-enhancement commercials...
That's a good way of looking at it. I like the way you lay it out. I do feel better with my purchase, and got two good shaves out of it thus far. I'm taking it with me to drill this weekend, so I will get 2 more shaves out of it. It also looks really awesome sitting in my razor stand with my brush.
