Housekeeper’s banished me from my office until it’s clean. Something about half the coffee cups we own being in there. :D So banished to the den, I’m curious about the Rolls out there. So this thread is for posting your Rolls pictures. It’s also a place where the curious can see what a Rolls looks like in service.
All of these came from Ebay. All were pretty grubby or worse. The most I payed was, I think, about $25 (+Shipping)

From an efficiency point of view, it is truly the end-all, be-all of safety razors.

That thing cost (in today's US dollars) about $500. Just the thing for a budding “Lawrence of Arabia" on a foreign office posting to far East….. Except Larry was a total “freak” and used a straight. The straight had nothing to do with the “freak” part…..Maybe.:D

It cost me about 10% of that! :)

Exactly what is and how does this thing work?

It is a razor, and it works just great! :D

Still need more info? Read Greg's excellent post on the Rolls Razor! But be careful: you might get hooked!

It is a self-sharpening, self-honing razor. Literally a lifetime of straight-quality shaves in a small metal box.

The business end of the Rolls system.

I've been using one for the last few months, mostly for third pass or neck touch up after the straight. I read a lot about Rolls Razors here at TSD which helped me improve my sharpening technique. With some sorry, forgotten mug soap and a few drops of glycerine I had as good a three-pass shave with my Rolls this morning as ever with any straight. Love the Rolls.

My 1st Rolls is this Viscount. I found it at an estate sale. Before this I never heard of it, but I was intrigued (engineering background).

I bought this one (1949 Imperial very close to mint) off eBay for $15 +shipping (gave this to my son)

Wonder what they'd go for in modern $.

EDIT: answered above and I do not doubt it one bit.

I actually I got lucky... it was a late night bid. They are going for about $20-$30 USD.. some actually try to sell them for $60USD but I haven't seen them sell for it unless it's in perfect condition.
