I've been bowl lathering Proraso soap with an Omega boar hair brush for about a year now. I recently took a trip and brought along a Wilkinson synthetic brush intending to hand lather the Proraso. I nothiced that it didn't hand lather very well, but did just fine producing a thick sort of pasty lather on my face without bothering to hand lather at all. Back home, I reverted to the Omega brush. Has anyone else noticed a big difference with a synthetic brush?
Don't judge synthetic brushes by the Wilkinson. It may be one of the bottom of the barrel synthetics next to the original nylon synthetic of the 1940s. All brush types behave differently, badger, boar, horse and synthetics. Each type has strengths and weaknesses. To learn more about synthetic brushes, this article series will be completed tomorrow with user test results. This is a series, so you can go through the entire series with the links or wait until tomorrow for the final posting. My personal test results have been posted here. http://sharpologist.com/2012/06/synthetic-hair-shave-brushes-part-2.html
