I only find myself reaching for my Super Speeds or my Krona. I don't really have much interest in buying anything else, but I'm sure I would try other things if the opportunity presented itself. That list is as follows: Adjustable Injectors Merkurs Chinese razors SE's
Cobra Classic (tried it, didn't like it) Tradere OC (had one and sold it); difficult to find angle Ryan, you'd love SEs if you tried them. GEM, Star types or Schick injector types. I have no love for adjustable SEs. I couldn't tell much difference. PM your address and I'll send you an injector razor and some blades.
iKon Razors (Some original ones looked nice, but the new ones look like small versions of Thor's Hammer - not my style) Merkur 1904 OC - Just does not shave nearly as efficiently as my Gillette New Long Comb Joris Razors - $200 and platinum? I'm not the Sultan of Brunei Tradere - Seems harsh from almost every review I've seen. Weishi - Too mild from the reviews I've seen Gillette Flare Tip SS (Blue, Black, or Plain) - They're too mild. Red I may try someday.
I could probably go my whole life without ever having an r41 and not feel like I've missed anything. Same goes for the Merkur Future etc etc,,,
Merkur Future - looks too odd and too expensive. A straight, I just don't have the time commitment for the upkeep.
Lindy, that is very awesome of you and I appreciate the offer. However, I already have an Injector and have had a good number of shaves with it. While I always get real smooth shaves when I use it, I can't for the life of me get a decent shave with it. I'm still holding onto it just in case I do everything right one shave and it works. But I still appreciate your generosity.
The only ones on that list I have tried are the Flare Tips and the early NDC Super Speeds. Those work perfectly for my face since I don't have real thick facial hair. When I look back, the 1904 might be right for me too. The others on that list I have no interest in. Along with the Feather AS-D1.
The R41 would probably tear my face up. I don't have a need for those giant Merkur razors. They look like toys to me.
I just recently tried a straight. I would like to buy one, but I would need more time to actually learn how to use it.
Pretty much agree with all that's been said above. I'm down to exactly two razors now - the Rolls and the Hydro-Magic. Many of the newer ones are attractive and interesting looking but nothing else attracts me anymore. However, there is one razor remaining that I would like to try, just to say I did, but I know I never will and that's ok: the Wilkinson Sticky.
I would like to have a Merkur Progress.I have the Futur already, but the design of the Progress is much more "classic". I love the Progress especially with a customised "knob" out of chrome at the end ob the handle bar...really nice... Mergress i think it´s called...
Totally agree with you there. I've had both, the R41 chewed me up and the Futur was just not for me. On the lower settings I couldn't get a good shave and the higher settings were to aggressive. I also have no desire to try a straight.
I have no desire to own any razor other than my Star 1912. I would like to get a spare one. I have a mint Micromatic that I am keeping along with the Gillette Aristocrat because it is also in very good condition. I am pretty much going to sell all my DE's. Merkur, Slim Adjustable, 1933 Goodwill. I'm a star, My football team has a star on their helmet and my razor is a Star. 'Merica.
I have no desire to own the Merkur Futur or any of the very expensive DE razors. I define expensive by meaning more than 100 dollars. The design hasn't changed that much imo for DE razors. I can't justify to myself spending that much on a new razor when I can get a working vintage razor for a tenth of the price.
No interest in the Darwin, R41, and Tradere razors. I've found my perfect trio to use- the Shake Sharp, the Cooper Monobilt, and the Gillette Fat Boy. Once or twice a month I'll shave with a straight or a red tip just to change things up.
