I don't have much personal experience, but an antique dealer friend uses a steam iron to remove dents from wood.

My mom gave me a sweet like AOS set. It'll be great for my travel set. Little bottles of pre-shave oil, a brush or brushless cream, and AS. It even came with a little (apparently badger) brush. Pumped for a travel set! Now I need to travel.

Ran out of hair gel today (well my brother used it all) so I stopped by Walgreens on my way back from the gym. The men's hair gels were right next to the shaving products! I saw one puck of VDH and the typical AS's you'd expect to see at Walgreens. Any way, just couldn't help myself:

Got these vintage blades from eBay for $0.99. Has anyone tried the Gillette Platinum Plus or Domino blades before? How were they?

    Cheers, Lyndon

battle.munky Has the menthol.munky on his back!

Those dominoes look like they'd be carbon blades. Check the edge for rust before you use them, if they are good, give them a try. I can't stand the carbon blades though; it would be more comfortable to tweeze my hairs out compared to the tugging.

Give them a try though, I know a few people on here like them, but I surely don't.

Thanks Bob, I will check them out closely and if they are clean I will give them a go. I do have very hard whiskers so the blades are not sharp, they will probably not work well for me either.

    Cheers, Lyndon

If you don't like the carbons (hand stropping first may help, or it may not) some guys here will gladly take them off your hands. Not me, I've got too many now.

That small white case of nameless stainless...I have a pack just like those which was sold at - if you can believe it - Sears. Late '60s, early '70s. Whoever made them (ASR? Personna?) if they're the same, they're fine blades.

Similar style. Vostok Amphibia Ministry Automatic. FANTASTIC watch, arguably the best sub-$500 automatic movement in the world, my only issue is the uber bad bracelet it comes with however I have a NATO strap en route from the US which should be here in a week. I decided on the Zissou model, after watching Life Aquatic LOL. I still need to order myself a blue scuba dude when I have extra money.

So apparently my parents mentioned to my Grandmother about my new shaving hobby. Stopped by her house today to pick up some amazing food from her and she hooked me up with all my grandfather's stuff. It includes:
    1) Two old Gillette safety razors. One is a gold 3 piece, the other one has black plastic grip and flared tip and is TTO.
    2) Two old pucks of Williams soap from Kmart with $.39 price tag still on them
    3) A beat up brush that the knot has fallen out of. Seems to be a Surrey, like the other one. White handle
    4) A brand new Surrey boar brush $.97 price tag still on the box. Blue handle
    5) A Surrey Shave mug. Says Mercedes 1927 with the picture of a car on the side.

This is my best and most unexpected Christmas gift. So excited!
Here are the bottoms of the razors for identification purposes. Would love to know what they are, and you guys are the experts.

First one's a Tech (not sure what era) and the second one is the last of the Super Speeds, marketed up through the early '80s. Based on what looks like crosshatching on the black handle, I'd guess it's later in the run than earlier (too lazy to look up the date code right now).

Jrod you really hit a mini gold mine. Those 80's Super Speeds are on the rare side. Enjoy and tell us how you feel after using those awesome products!
