I picked up a vintage Merkur slant in silver. No I didn't since I have no pic, but yes I did I'll get a pic up when I get my camera situation straight again.
I actually picked these up last week, but just now got around to taking a picture. These all came from a antique mall in Galena, IL. The mug is a Surrey Soap shaving mug. L-R Gillette Superspeed - X4, in great shape Schick Krona - in great shape Schick Krona - in great shape Gillette Tech - fat handle, in rough shape but at $1.50 I had to buy it. Schick Injector - G1 in very nice shape
I have 2 of those Aristocrats mild but very smooth, one is user grade 2nd is replated in gold. but thats a stunning haul Im after getting a red tip, so jealous much yes well done.
Yep, they're in Gillette's top 10 for sure. My wife has paid more attention to my razor rants than I thought. When she saw it she said, "Wow, good shape...that'd look really good with the gold stripped off to look like a President, wouldn't it." So she's going to put it away until she can manage to get that done. Would have much rather found a bar handle NEW in nickel, though. Ah well.
This year is off to a good start with the arrival of the items from a mutual trade. The razor is a Gillette "Old Type" from 1918. Cool! I will shave with it a bit and if it is a good shaver I will send it off for replating. The other razor is a fat-handled Tech which was replated in bright nickel. Also in the box was an interesting vintage Bakelite handle. Looks like he might not have had any action for awhile but no worries, I should be able to find some head for him soon. Got some really great blades too! Great trade!! Cheers, Lyndon
HELLO! That is one gorgeous single ring, does it even need replating, the picture makes it look immaculate as it is!
Thanks Justin, the razor is in very good shape but there are a couple of areas of wear here and there. I am not really a collector kind of guy but I plan on replating my favorite vintage razors in rhodium. I think replating them in nickel would have been a good idea too as they would look more original. But the rhodium looks great too!
Got a bunch of packages in today. My brothers RazoRock TTO which came with a pack of Lord Platinum's (score I have not tried them yet), my TGN 22mm Synthetic knot for the handle I'm re-knotting for my brother, another razor stand, my semogue 830, and a puck of MFW. Woohoo! I didn't open the razor up because it's not mine. Nice that it comes in a little case though.
Yesterday I got my two tubs of Proraso Sandalwood soap. A Semogue 1305 Boar Bristle Shaving Brush and a 100 pack of NOS Polsilver. The brown pack from Poland. Will shave with it later this evening. Looking forward to it
My order came in from the Body shop and from Shoe Box Shave shop. I must say that the order from Show Box was packed excellently and everything was in place. I had to try everything out tonight even though I won't be able to shave till tomorrow. The arko cream has the greatest scent of any cream I've smelled so far. It smelled just like fresh citrus. Mostly a grapefruit smell.
A little late posting this but... For Christmas my wife game me some AoS Ocean Kelp SC, Very Sexy for Him (Victoria's Secret), and the Anthony Logistics "Perfect Shave" kit, which includes Glycolic Facial Cleanser, face scrub, pre-shave oil, shaving cream and an aftershave balm. The AoS is great stuff and very little is needed. The Very Sexy for Him....meh...I'll only wear it when I'm with her. I don't care for it. Seems feminine smelling to me. The Anthony Logistics stuff is fantastic. This was the first time I"ve used the Glycolic Facial Cleanser and it does a great job. I've used the shaving cream and ASB before and I was really excited to get those. Fantastic cream with a great scent! The little tub there is something I got on my own. It's a sample of L'Occitane's Cade Shaving Cream. They don't normally offer samples of it, but I brought in an empty sample tub and asked if I could fill it, and they consented. I'll be trying that soon.
Got my Weber SS Bulldog handle in the other day. Just shaved with it this morning. Excellent weight to it, and exceptional grip when compared to my lined DE89 handle, couldn't imagine it ever slipping out of my hand. Another solid investment.
