CREME-A-RASER-TUBE-60-ML2g.jpg diana_balsam.jpg Barber_Aftershave_Osage-Rub_LRG.jpg Ladies and gentlemen, I beg you to please forgive me for starting a new week so early, it's because I have to leave the house at 4:30 AM.

This will be my set-up for:

    Menthol Monday:

    #6 Horsehair
    Super Speed/new 7 AM
Aquabarba SC :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Diana Sport Menthol Balsam :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Osage Rub AS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    YSL Pour Homme EDT :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:

I doubt that anyone here has ever heard of Aquabarba cream. It comes from Tunisia and has tons of rich, creamy lather and a very nice minty scent. The cooling effect is almost as strong as Palmolive Menthol so it's a great choice for a Menthol Monday Shave. The Diana Sport balsam and the Rubski-Dubski make the temperature feel like 20 below zero! ;) :D

Hi jbooth! How do you like your T&H UC After Shave Balm? Is it unscented like the cream? I absolutely love the cream!

I finally had time to try out the Gillette Single Ring. It was great! :D This little guy had no trouble getting down to the business of a really close BBS shave. Pretty good for a 95 year old razor!! I like using vintage blades in my old razors but for the next shave, I will will use a Feather I think. If you have been toying with the idea of getting some Baxter ASB, I would encourage you to go for it! It is such an excellent aftershave balm. In my top 5 for sure! I finished off the shave today with a couple of splashes of Alt Innsbruck. Always a great finish.

    Cheers, Lyndon

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Merkur/Menthol Monday January 7, 2013
    [IMG]
Prep: Brush soaked in warm water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower
    Razor: Merkur Mergress XL
    Blade: Gillette Super Thin (2)
Brush: GDCarrington Custom Maple Apple Brush with Ace Shaving 22mm High Density Silvertip
Cream: Ingram Lather Shave Cream (UK Version)
AS: Mennen Skin Bracer Original with added Menthol
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave

Although I just used it yesterday, I had to use the Mergress XL again today. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE this razor? Although I like to mix things up with my rotation, if I had to pick only ONE, this would be it. I am pretty sure this ha stopped my RAD (until the new line of German razors are released).

First use of the Ingram Lather Shave Cream, which is sort of a mixed bag for me. The latherability I would only rate a C+ at best, as it takes far too much product to get the right consistency. The scent reminds of me of Ivory soap, so clean but also institutional. The menthol level grows after applying the lather. At first I did not think it had much menthol and that I would need to add some menthol to it, but it ended up giving a nice cooling sensation. It is does not provide as much cushion or slickness that I would prefer, and although it is inexpensive, you can find much better quality creams in the same price point.

The shave itself was fantastic. The combo of the Gillette Super Thin blade and the Mergress was able to provide a BBS in three passes with minor touch up.

    Proraso PSC
    Speick SC
    Omega Boar
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Replenishing ASB
    English Leather Cologne

To support Steve's theme I'll start off with the little De-Fi. For those who might want to try straight shaving but, are a little reluctant to spend a lot of money, there are numerous vintage straight razors on e-bay and the B/S/T forum pages that can be picked up for a reasonable cost. If....in the end, straight shaving isn't for you, you can always sell the razor and recupe your original cost. Many start straight shaving with a shavette with the replaceable blades. IMHO, the shavette's shave performance can never equal the performance from a well honed straight blade. I read posts about starting with a shavette with very negative reports and just wonder how much better it would be to start with an actual straight razor. There is a learning curve to using a straight and until you find it your shaves can be pretty rough no matter what you're using or how sharp it is. Once you have found it however, it is as easy as shaving with a DE and just as close as you could possible get with a DE. One important point to remember is; the razor must be properly honed. The "shave ready" notation on the e-bay description is probably false! (many sellers think if the edge "feels" sharpe it's shave ready....it's not! ) Get your first straight honed by someone that is experienced with honing a razor to get you off to a good start and give you a benchmark as to what shave ready actually feels like and performs like. If you have a straight laying around the house and still haven't given it a try....this is the week to start and a lot of the experienced Brothers will be here to help you through.

First time shave with shaving oil.
Hm. Can't say I'm overwhelmed, though the result is great: DFS++ :)
I kinda miss the lathering and the visual feedback (with the oil I couldn't see where I had been already, so I had to guess myself through the shave...).

    Have a great week ya'll!

WOW the warm lather....combined with the perfection that is T&H - I take back everything bad I've ever said about the company, it lathers quickly, stays, and the scent is noticable but not overpowering. Has some saying power too, I can still catch hints of it hours after I shaved.
