Thursday: #6 Horsehair Super Speed/7 AM day 4 Arko Ice Mint SC Svoboda AS Balsam Max Refreshing AS I tried hard to enjoy my shave this morning but I have a medical procedure to undergo this afternoon and I'm very worried so it was hard to focus. The results were very good - the Arko Ice Mint cream was sent to me by one of the coolest cats here - he knows who he is! The Svoboda balsam has amazing cooling and soothing action, and it's become a top-favorite of mine, and the Max Refreshing aftershave is one of the best which Bulgaria produces. A special shout-out to my Mom - Happy 84th Birthday!
Shave of the Day (SOTD) Thursday January 10, 2013• Prep: Brush soaked in warm water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower • Razor: 1940's NDC Gillette Superspeed re-plated in Nickel • Blade: Gillette Super Thin (5) • Brush: TGN 22mm Super Silvertip "the Mushroom" • Cream: SuperMax Ultimate 3 Triple Action with added Menthol • AS: British Sterling • Post: Cold Water Rinse, Bath of Aftershave With four shaves on the Gillette Super Thin that have been great, I figure why not push it and go for five. Shockingly the blade is still performing well, again no pulling, skipping or tugging. The Superspeed proved once again to perform to be my favorite vintage TTO, it just works the way a razor should. I am so glad to find the SuperMax shaving cream again. Very nice lather, great protection and no ASB is needed with this, as it provides a very good level of moisturizing.
Muhle R41 Gillette 7 o'clock blue Omega Mighty Midget MWF Floid Blue Got called into work at 0300 - no time for anything but a quick 2 pass shave. I need more coffee.
Shower to prep MWF Semogue 830 Tech head, Webber Bulldog Handle Treet dura sharp Witch Hazel Aqua Velva Ice Blue First time I used the Tech head and a Treet blade. Felt real smooth except for a small nick under my nose, haven't nicked myself in a while. I think a mild razor head is best for me. Put the Treet in my DE89 head for tomorrow, but this Tech head might become my go to. Getting closer to that perfect shave.
Hey Jeff, I hope everything goes well with your procedure. Try not to worry to much. And happy birthday to your Mom! She is still eleven year younger than my oldest razor! Cheers, Lyndon
SOTD Thursday 1-10-2013 6/8 F.H. Loeffler, "Our Drummer", Extra Hollow, Spike Point Proraso PSC Ingram SC Parker Badger Thayer's Witch Hazel Nivea Replenishing ASB Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue ASL Don't know why I went with so many Mentholated items this morning but, the beautiful blanket of white snow covering the ground when I woke probably had something to do with it. The "Drummer" man did an excellent job of dispatching the daily crop of whiskers and the coolness of the mentholated software left a clean and crisp feeling on my face. A great start to a beautiful Winter day in SW Oregon!
Muhle Retro Brush TOBS Eaton College Shaving Cream Futur set at 3 Personna Red (1) 3 passes Hot/cold water splashes GFT Sandalwood Skin Food Phenomenal shave this morning. While I find the Personna Med Preps to be nearly perfect, I have to say the Red delivered!
Best wishes on a speedy recovery Jeff. Also wishing your mom a happy and a healthy birthday filled with family and joy.
5/8 Kropp 23mm Muhle synthetic knot The unnamed rose scented soap smells delightful in the puck and like cat urine on my face. I can't complain about it's performance but the scent isn't for me. So the shave was good but it would get low marks as far as being an enjoyable experience. Tomorrow is another day. Have a good one.

Do you have an alum block? If so, keep it sitting there beside the sink. Before you "grab your cheek", make sure you hands are free of soap, then rub your wet fingertips over the alum block; it will help give you a better grip on your cheek without having to dig in your fingernails.

Thursdays Shave-Day #4 'Straight 8 Week" HOT FACE RINSE!! Arko Shave Stick-bowl lathered Omega 10029 Baby-Pro, boar Sedef Disposable Blade Straight Razor/Rapira d2-3 passes 1955 Schick Hydro-magic/EMS-Personna d5-touch-up Arko-Nem moisturizer/Old Spice AS/Arko-Cool ASB 3passes...no blood...no irritation....pretty much DFS....except bottom lip goatee area....therefore touch up with Schick and I'm good to go.... This week has been like my 3rd straight shave and the first week of consecutive shaves....It has been very exciting, exhilerating and filled with very close shaves....and more blood than I've seen while shaving in years plus reddness but not enough to make me stop...Thanks to Arko's After Shave Balm I've been healing up nicely each day in time for the next shave.... But today.....no irritation....!!!
