I agree, but that is not the impression that most people looking into traditional wet shaving have. Sadly the videos that are designed to help new shavers see exactly how to shave and lather properly often turn a lot of possible new converts off from the whole idea. More effort needs to be directed at explaining the fact that the process being shown takes much less time when you don't have to explain everything step by step. It seems like it should be obvious, but when you're new and watching a video that takes five to ten minutes just to demonstrate lathering all that goes through your head is 'man, this stuff takes way too long.'

By the time I first started "traditional" shaving I'd researched it enough to know there would be a possible time penalty involved, but also possible cost benefits(I'm CHEAP) as well as better quality ingredients that should result in better shave quality(ie. smoother, closer, with less irritation).. One thing that ALWAYS pissed me off about canned goo, was even though I'd use the can until there was nothing but white diareah coming out that offered little protection or lubrication. I still knew I was leaving and throwing away a considerable amount of product in the can. This always made me MAD! I felt ripped off everytime I had to buy another can :angry019:. So one of my BIG joys in "traditional" shaving, aside from the quality of the shave of course, is using EVERY bit of the product I pay for!!:happy093:

    I never thought about that.

Same here, I hate tossing out a jar or can when I know there is still stuff in it. With a tub that never happens and with a tube and tube key there is very little wasted. I have to admit that I was pretty hesitant to get into this whole traditional shaving thing, the videos did not help to convince me, but the reduced cost over time swayed me. I am happy that I made the jump, but it wasn't something that I can envision everyone doing, it's too easy to look at the videos and the initial cost and blow the idea off as being too much trouble.

When I was in bootcamp there were so many guys that had issues with razor bumps that this sort of shaving could have helped. It's unfortunate that it is taking so long to spread the information to the general public.

    You'd be surprised.

You should cut open the tube when you "think" you have emptied it.

    I hate tubes.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of tubes either, but the tube key helps. Gogurt also has a nifty little plastic thingy to help get that last little bit of yogurt out of the tube...it works on other plastic tubes too. In any event, the tub is the easiest way to ensure you get it all.
