I am new to DE shaving and have had this razor since I was little. I use to pretend to shave with it when my dad would shave. Can someone tell me about this razor. It is in bad shape and would have to be fixed up before actually using it. Is it worth getting refurbished?

    Red Tip SuperSpeed.

If you look under the head, there should be a letter and a number. That is the datecode and we can tell you what year the razor was made.

Have you tried cleaning it? The pic is a little too large to tell what overall condition the razor is in, other than some red paint chipped off the tip, and a smidge of rust or possibly just staining on the edge of the one door we can see.

B 1 is the letter and number under the head.

Yep - Red Tip SS. Great razor! I have a couple and I'm never disappointed with the shave they give.

As you probably already know, twist the red knob to open it up, set it in a small bowl and cover it with Scrubbing Bubbles (yep, the bathroom cleaner). Let the bubbles disappear and cover it again with the bubbles. Let the bubbles disappear again and take a toothbrush to get into the nooks and crannies. Give it a good rinse, wipe it down with some light weight machine oil (I always add a drop or two down the shaft and at any/all hinge points), and there ya go!

Scrubbing Bubble will do three things for you:
    1) It eats soap scum
    B) It disinfects
Third) It leaves the razor nice and shiny!

It's more aggressive than a regular SS (It was marketed for heavy beards) but a fantastic shaver. If you pay attention there are always people looking for one on the different forums BST. It's one of the must haves. I found one for my brother 2 Christmases ago looked brand new after I cleaned it up. He absolutely loves this razor. Unfortunately I haven't found another for myself.

That's my birth year and quarter razor. When you say " It is in bad shape and would have to be fixed up before actually using it." what does that mean? Is it broken?

It doens't look to be in bad shape at all. A good cleaning with scrubbing bubbles as already mentioned may make it look almost as good as new.
