Is that a re-plate from Dave? It is GORGEOUS!!! He had a buy it now on Sunday for a Rhodium Flare, but the pictures did not match the description. I shot him an email and it was gone by the time I looked again :angry019:

Let's see, today was another good shave.

unknown german lilac soap bar ( I like this stuff, I'll have to dig out the box so I can find some more)
Parker 90r with Derby Extra (2)
    TBS synthetic brush
    PdP shave cream
    PdP ASB
    M&L Florida Water

These Derby's are turning out to be pretty good. Minor stubble in my "problem" areas, but no nicks or irritation.

    Thursday!
    • Prep: hot washing cloth
    • Music: Nits, Urk
    • Brush: DVH boar
    • Soap: Arko stick (face lathered)
    • Razor: Star 1912
    • Blade: GEM stainless
    • Shave: 3-pass + touch-up
    • Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse, hand strop blade, flip over & reload
    SoS 2013-01-24.jpg

First shave with the Star. I really like the weight and the knurling of the handle. This one won't easily slip out of my fingers! Had loud feedback of the whiskers being mowed away. But I think this razor is more agressive than the GEM OCMM. That or I have to get used to it. So, I'll use it again tomorrow. See if I'll have less burning after the shave.

Anyway: I had an almost BBS shave and the burn left soon enough, so I'm not complaining! :) Have a nice day!

    Frank Shaving Chubby Badger
    Portland General Store Whiskey Soap
    Thayers Witch Hazel
    Proraso Aftershave Lotion
    Nivea Sensitive Aftershave Balm

I had a very nice shave, and apparently the SI blade work much better in the EJ than in the Futur. At least for me. But there is still something that keeps me from digging this blade. It does a fine job, so the problem is most likely me. One thing I can say that even though this combo work very well, it is not aggressive enough to give me a closer shave than a CCS. At least not today. But I will have to do some extensive research before I can draw a final conclusion.

The soap however is a gem. It creates a very nice lather. Even today when I had to face lather to honour this weeks theme, it bloomed out like a piece of corn turning into the perfect popcorn. Pure excellence

Its been a while since I last used the Chubby badger brush from Frank Shaving. I had more or less forgotten all about it, which is a darn shame. This is a very nice brush that deserves to be used more often.

    And that's all (s)he wrote.

My Veli, our weather here is so cold now that for me it is torture. -27C and strong winds which makes it unbearable for me to be outside for more than five minutes at a time. The cold wind blowing on my face is enough to make me cough and choke so badly that I am afraid for my health. The Aspis cream felt cool and comfortable, with great soothing and protection, and I see you used an even stronger menthol cream - Arko Ice Mint is wonderful stuff also! :)

"Easy to learn, hard to master!"(c) Lifelong journey, not an event to win a championship. It is a great feeling of accomplishment after you go through all the routine of honing-stroping-preparation-shaving-aftershave. It is a old steel that went from hands of a craftsman, who died long ago, and you. Like a material piece of history, a message from 'time of Men'. I like to think that every craftsman feels when someone uses the stuff he made. Like to think about people and events that brought that razor to me. So straights are always very special. Straight-forward, deadly sharp and soft in one, beautiful in their simplicity and integrity. They never changes (no part to change to), every change is like a surgery for a human. I like to know I now can continue the story. And hope my children will carry it on too!

    Thanks
I felt it was time to show a different side to the Sith Lord. He enjoys his Futur, the official razor of the Sith order.
But to be fair, it would be more prudent using a Vision.
But if I ever get one, I suspect I need to dress up like Freddy Mercury instead. He is know for having at least One Vision :)

Always thought that Schick Protector was Too cool for school....No longer do you have to change blades every time you put your razor in your shave bag....;) I'm going to have to get one again, one of these days...Lost mine when I was touring with bands back in the 70's I believe....

It's a conundrum to me why I think I need anything more than what's in this picture to shave with, soap, brush or razor. It's truly a joy for me to shave with a sharp W&B wedge. The antique store wedges can be a PITA to get sharp but once you do........wow. Superb shave this morning. Have a good one.

This Senator is the 'Cats Meow'....I would say, this gives me closer to a Straight 8 quality shave of any DE razor I've ever used....Except, it's better than any Straight 8 shave, that I've ever gotten...by me or Barber. :happy108:
