With todays high of 21 degrees Menthol MOnday was a go. Expecting another 3-5 inches tonight on top of the 6 we already got last night.
I combined Face lather week with Menthol Monday. Never tried face lathering a cream before but Bigelow is the only menthol I have. It actually worked ok just putting a few dabs on my face and lathering it with a shaken out brush. This technique may come in handy for traveling without a bowl. Also, first time using my '52 Super Speed (or any 40's style Super Speed for that matter) and it is a great razor. Got a nice 2-pass DFS.

Menthol Monday: #6 Horsehair Ming Shi TTO/new 7 AM Arko Ice Mint SC 444 AS Balsam Barbon AS YSL Pour Homme EDT I'll admit that the Ming Shi doesn't shave quite as closely as my Super Speed, but it still does a very good job. The Ice Mint is definitely the only Arko cream which has a real menthol effect that you can feel during and after a shave. The 444 balsam and the Barbon aftershave are 2 of the best face-freezers that are on the market.
Shave of the Day (SOTD) Merkur/Menthol Monday January 28, 2013• Prep: Brush soaked in cold water, tepid shower, face washed with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash • Razor: Merkur Mergress XL • Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated (2) • Brush: GDCarrington Maple Apple Brush with Ace Shaving 22mm High Density Silvertip • Cream: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus (old formula) with added menthol • Soap: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus (new formula) with added menthol • AS: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue with added menthol • Post: Cold Water Rinse, obscene amount of aftershave Über-lather of the Proraso in the tub and tube with menthol infused glycerin has become my go to for menthol Monday's. Nice and cold, plenty of slickness, and good cushion. The Voskhod performed good in the Mergress, although I am not sure if any better than less expensive blades. It is back up to 44°F (6.7°C) which is way too balmy for this time of the year, had to get my freeze on.

My friend, how much colder do you want the ISZ soap to be - it will feel like Vladivostok on a cold winter night!
Shave Secret as a pre shave contains a little menthol. CO Bigelow cream bowl lathered followed by Proraso Green Aftershave. That was enough cold to go with the 10" of overnight snow this morning.
I have a regular (without even more menthol) version of ISZ soap and add 3 drops of M-bomb per shave. I repeat that procedure with amount mentioned for a month for now and really like how it feels. Besides, I wash my face thoroughly with very cold water and then apply mentholated AS splash with another 3 drops of M-bomb. From time to time I boost preshave balm too. It is almost painful on the face, but FROSTY!!! So I really like it, the only problem is to shave face that I cannot even feel! But it's a fun! When it is about -20C outside I really cannot find much difference! PS. Vladivostok is a warm city by local scale - it is near the ocean! But if you visit Komsomolsk-na-Amure region - you'll find that experience great, as -40C is a usual night temperature there!
My Dmitry, I have been to Komsomolsk-na-Amur in middle of February and where I was staying, I needed even 3 extra blankets to keep the warmth - it is soooooooo cold at night. Perhaps more than -40C some nights!
Menthol Monday TSD ISZ Preshave Balm Mike's Natural Lemon & Eucalyptus SS Thayer's Lemon WH mixed with 3 drops M-Bomb Myrsol Agua De Limon mixed with a pea sized amount of 444 Well this was my first use of Mike's Lemon & Eucalyptus SS,I thought this would be a good Menthol Monday choice but alas no freeze ,however it's still a nice soap.Great lather, scent and skin conditioning, next time,I'll hit it up with some M-Bomb. Out of a possible 4 cubes, this Menthol Monday shave was 2 cubes
Shave of the Day (SOTD) Merkur/Menthol Monday February 4, 2013• Prep: Brush soaked in hot water, hot shower, One With Nature Dead Sea Mineral Olive Oil Soap, hot wash cloth on face. • Razor: Merkur Mergress XL • Blade: Chroma Diamant(2) • Brush: Vintage Stanley Home Products restored with TGN 22mm Fan High Density Finest Two-Band Badger Knot • Soap: Proraso Shave Menthol and Eucalyptus with added menthol • AS: Nivea for Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm (old formula) • Post: Cold Water Rinse, double application of aftershave balm The Chroma blades I find to be as sharp as the Feathers but much smoother, so smooth you do not even feel them cutting the hair on your face. I am giving my skin a break from aftershaves with alcohol in them. I know many guys are fans of Witch Hazel, but something about it causes a gag reflex in me. I find that Nivea works very good during the dry winter months, but I think what ever benefit I have been receiving from it has been washed away with the bathing of aftershave that I have put on. The shave feels really good this morning.

Here was my freezing-cold shave for this fine morning of: Menthol Monday: Facial wash with Gatsby Ice Cooling Gel #6 Horsehair Super Speed/new Goal Egyptian Ingram SC 444 AS Balsam Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash YSL Pour Homme EDT This is what I call a perfect set-up for Menthol Monday. At first I was planning to go a little lighter than usual, but then I changed my mind and decided to go all-out. That Gatsby Ice Cooling facial wash is so frigid that you can almost see your breath, the Egyptian version of Ingram cream makes the UK version feel almost warm, and the duo of 444 balsam and the Penguin which guarantee lots of extra icicles in your face!
My Dmitry, I am sure your shave was the coldest of almost everybody's! Mine was very cold also, but ISZ soap is something unique, yes?
ISZ is my staple choice for Menthol Mondays! I have a 'regular' version of ISZ soap, so I boost it with 3 drops of M-bomb. VERY unique experience, I cannot feel the face, literally! But really love how it goes, seems that 3 drops to the soap is a right proportion for me. I'm well prepared for the soap by preshave balm, which I boost also. But the real kick is the aftershave, as I wash all the soap with cold water only and then apply boosted AS splash The 70 degrees alcohol and heavy menthol is a winner combo!
My dear friend, I think you are a master of putting together a brilliant idea of a perfect Menthol Monday Shave and I am very impressed. I have several products which are unbelieveably cold as well - for example the Gatsby Ice Cooling Facial Wash Gel which I use before to lather with a strongly-mentholated cream or soap, Diana Sport Menthol Balsam which I'll use immediately after my shave, and Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash which can out-freeze even Osage Rub. I still don't have the courage to try the M-Bomb!
Menthol Monday: Gatsby Ice Cooling Gel Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/new Goal TSD Iced Subzero SS Diana Sport Menthol Balsam Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash YSL Pour Homme EDT If this set-up doesn't freeze a man's face, nothing will - this Gatsby facial wash feels like a triple dose of liquid nitrogen, and it lasts even after washing it off with hot water. JoAnna's Gold Medal winning ISZ soap has been a favorite of mine ever since she introduced it as a replacement to her Avalanche soap which is also very good, and the Diana Sport balsam and the Penguin are two of the most potently mentholated products you can find.
