Mr Asd, as a Norseman, I am curious. How do you find the Fitjar Miklagard cream? (I am assuming that ASC stands for aftershave cream :) )

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Friday February 1, 2013
    [IMG]
Prep: Brush soaked in hot water, warm shower, face washed with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, hot wash cloth on face.
    Razor: 1940's NDC Gillette Superspeed
    Blade: Perma-Sharp Super Stainless (2)
Brush: Vintage Stanley Home Products restored with TGN 22mm Fan High Density Finest Two-Band Badger Knot
Soap: Sultans Shaving Soap Gold Sandalwood
AS: Mennen Skin Bracer Original with added menthol
Post: Cold Water Rinse, double splash of aftershave

Todd had sent me a few samples of the Sultans Shaving Soap products, which I have never heard of before. This gold sandalwood is not like anything I have ever used before. It is a golden color, has the texture and look of a salve, yet lathers up like crazy. The scent is very subdued, but still very pleasant. The lather was thick, creamy, and very slick, I like it a lot.

First use of the Stanley brush since I restored it. The knot is a little taller than the original one, but a much better feel to it. I was shocked over how soft this knot is, in fact it may very well be the softest badger than I own. A lot less scritch than any Super Silver Tip I have, so soft I just want to bring the brush to work with me to rub it on my face all day, HA.

My shaves just not have been great lately. I think they are good in the morning but by time noon rolls around, my skin feels like sandpaper, and my face is starting to itch from all of the stubble. By the time I leave the office it looks like a full 24 hours has rolled around and I need to shave again, and on many nights I do.

The shave feels very good today, but we will see.

    Friday - 01.02.2013

I've had the day off today, and had not planned to shave. Just relax, go for a walk, enjoy my day etc etc. But the temptation got the better of me, and decided to shave anyway.
One of my favourite combination is the Futur and the Gillette Silver Blue blade, and since my last two shaves was less than excellent due to me trying out new blades, I wanted to treat myself to something nice.
But I also wanted to try something new, so I picked up my tube of Arko shaving cream. I have used this once before, but I do not remember anything about it.

The stage was set for what I hoped to be a good performance.
I was not disappointed. The cream was outstanding, the razor and blade was a pleasure to use and even the aftershave grew on me. I used the Captains Choice Bay Rum, and I may have mentioned before that it smells rather like plastic. Today was no exception, but somehow it smelled less funky and I started to notice the bay rum scent a little more. It also had a nice sting to it. Not much, but enough to be enjoyable.

All in all, a great shave with three lovely passes.

    Merkur Futur
    Gillette Silver Blue Blade
    Semogoue Boar Brush
    Arko Shave Cream
    Captains Choice Bay Rum Aftershave
Fitjarsoap Coconut & Shea Butter moisturiser.

The Merkur 15C is just a great modern version of the Gillette Old Type razor. The appearance of the handle is that of a Gillette Single Ring but it is a solid handle. The shave it delivers is slightly milder than the Gillette open combs but the end results are the same; close, smooth and comfortable. A great shaving razor with the smaller classic handle for those days when you feel like a lighter touch. The Voskhod Teflon blade works splendidly in this razor!

This morning was the 3rd shave with my new Weishi-Gunmetal razor with a Polsilver Super Iridium blade.
The Weishi seems to get reviews of it being not to good a razor. For me, it has been incredible. Much less forgiving than my EJ89811, and my Merkur 25C OC.

a perfect BBS 3rd shave on my face and head using the same blade!

    Hot shower
    Proraso Pre/Post SC old formula

    Hot soak

    Right side: 1952 Super Speed
    Left side: Late '40s Diplomat

New Big Ben blade swapped between both
    Tabac soap

The Diplomat is a great razor and noticeably smoother of the two (ultrasmooth with a Big Ben), but only because it's less aggressive. That, for me, results in extra work to take off the same amount of beard. The S.S. is more efficient.

The early TTOs and pre-flare tip Super Speeds are the T-800 of Gillette razors: it does one thing, does it perfectly, and it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are BBS.

Preshave - Hot Shower, TBS Face wash
    Cream - Proraso Sandalwood
    Brush - WD 24mm Silvertip
    Blade - Dorco (2)
    Razor - 1952 Gillette SS
A/S - Nivea Balm, Brut AS

Nice relaxing shave this evening. The wife and baby weren't home yet so I figured I would sneak in a shower so there is more time later in the evening. Great shave. Day two on the dorco gave a pleasant 3 pass DFS and I forgot how much I love the sandalwood scent. It goes great with the brut A/S.

    Today's shave:

Prep: Warm shower, TBS Tea Tree face wash, Billy Jealousy Face Scrub.
Brush: Whipped Dog silver tip (first use.)
Razor: Wade & Butcher Straight (dimensions unknown) and Gillette Ball End Tech.
    Blade: Personna Lab.
Soap: Proraso White Soap (first use, thank you Jeff for suggesting it! I will review it in a little bit.)
Post: Cold water rinse, patted my face dry with a towel, 2nd cold water splash, patted dry again, Thayer's WH Rose Petal, Floid Blue.

I don't know what to say about this shave. It was a very good shave. I only used the straight on my cheeks, mustache area, and whatever flat parts I could find. I went WTG and unintentionally got a close shave on my cheeks; but the shave was very comfortable regardless. I did a second pass with a combo of WTG and XTG and got most of the stubble on that pass. The Proraso white is pretty good stuff. I have it in the canned caca form, but this is definitely a step above that and I think Proraso is the best canned caca I have ever used.
