Having always waxed, I'm not sure how to hold a razor to shave under the arms. Should the handle of my DE razor be pointing down or up? (I'm sure it's probably common sense to most, but both ways felt equally awkward to me. *blush*). Do most women make 1 ATG pass like for the legs, or go WTG/XTG/mix? Thanks so much!
That's about it for me too. If you are feeling underconfident, try getting the feel of it, by just running the razor under your arm with out a blade first.
I've also found certain razors are easier for arm-pit shaves, depending on how often you shave...If you keep that area clean shaven then it doesn't matter as much...but if I let a month or so go by...and the hair looks as if I've never shaven it...then an open comb is an easy one pass shave...or the injector is also a very easy and user friendly... open combs as a rule are great for shaving longer hair....and injectors are so user friendly...You really notice that when shaving under your dominant arm with the hand you're not use to using.... That applys when I'm arm-pit shaving my self....when I shave my wife, I'll only use the injector because it is fool-proof, and I know she'll get a great shave with no irritation...
Armpit shaving isn't just for girls. I go down, then up. Much easier than it sounds, just keep the skin tight.
I would suggest starting with the legs to get comfortable with the razor. There is more flat area on the legs. May not want to attempt the bony bits of the leg (ie - knees, ankles) when starting out though.
Down works well with a straight razor, had difficulties getting a steady grip for going up. I'm sure using a DE could work either way.
