Nice shave. I love this black handled SS. I love the scent and protection that the TOOBS lemon lime gives me. It may be my perfect cream.

    Today I took my sweet time...maybe 35 mins...got a grand shave....the Shavette part 32 mins./Injector part 3 mins.
Only got 3 1/2 weepers that required styptic, all on the sides of the 'soul patch' area...normally I nick the middle, but today no prob...I would say, "by the time I master this Shavette, I'll be scarred for live"..but I probably all ready am...:shocked003:

The good news is...this shave is incredible...and for the first time the neck is not the slightest bit red and I even did an ATG neck pass with the Shavette....and its soo BBS....That Soul patch bottom lip area is still my Achilles Heal...

Funny though...my left hand technique, which in the beginning I was the most afraid of, has always been my best...and now I'm doing as much as I can with my left hand...It was my left hand that did the ATG buffing on my neck today that yielded the most incredible BBS finish....

But I did notice on the Injector clean up pass, I heard whiskers getting cut....hmmm..does this mean...that it was the Schick that left me with this SWEET BBS ??
Tomorrow I might have to try a not rushed, take my time Schick Shave with the same kind of attention to detail that I do with the Shavette....It seems when I'm holding the Injector I'm always racing around my face with reckless abandon and still obtain impressive results...Yep that's it...tomorrow I'll give the Injector a serious workout....and treat it as seriously as I do this 'cut-throat'....lets see how she stacks up...;)

On one of the FB Shaving pages some else said that the SuperMax cream was garbage (may be the same guy). The Marine in me wanted to punch him in the throat ;) For me the SuperMax cream out performs most creams costing three times the amount.

I'm dedicating this weekend to Bulgarian creams which my dear friend Veli (dcc) sent me. Man oh man, this Aspis Ice Rain cream can teach the 3 T's or DR Harris how to lather up, how to smell nice, and how to take good care of the skin. It has a good cooling effect also which the Phyto Expert Sensitive balsam (from Russia which another dear friend sent me) and Floid Classic aftershave intensifies beautifully. I retired the Goal blade after this great shave and sent it to its new residence. (the garbage can! ) ;) :D

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Saturday February 16, 2013
    [IMG]
Prep: Brush soaked in hot water, warm shower
Razor: Merkur 37C HD Slant Bar
    Blade: Croma Diamant Stainless (2)
Brush: Custom Bob Farvour Grade A Silvertip
Cream: Proraso Green Tea and Oatmeal/Sensitive Skin
ASB: Nivea for Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm (old formula, not pictured)
AS: Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum
Post: Cold Water Rinse, splash of aftershave

Another use of the 37C HD Slant today, I will continue using it until at least Tuesday (Monday is Menthol/Merkur Monday after all). I just love this razor, I so regret not trying one immediately after returning to wet shaving, as I could have saved myself hundred and hundreds of dollars.

Used the Krampert's Finest today, as it has been a while. I just love the scent and protection this aftershave provides, my only complaint is that I wish the scent lasted longer. I am one that likes for an aftershave to last all day, not just 30 minutes or so. My FB shaving buddy Andy has told me that most Bay Rums have a fairly short scent life, so I guess it is normal. I wished Brian would figure out a way to make the scent last longer.

He is absolutely ignorant about good shaving stuff - in fact he insults the 3 T's and DR Harris which I myself no longer use, but I still respect very much because they are excellent brands. The Marine in you wants to punch him in the throat? I'd like to run him over with a tank! :happy102:

My first injector shave today! I had a little irritation from yesterday so I took it pretty easy to learn the injector and avoid any more skin removal. Only did a WTG and XTG pass being very careful not to use any pressure. The injector gave me a nice comfortable shave and was very intuitive to use.

Prep: warm washcloth and Neutrogena Body Oil as PSO
    Brush: Omega Pure Badger
    Lather: VDH Deluxe
    Razor: Schick E-type injector
    Blade: Store-brand Personna Platinum Chrome
    AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

    warm water rinse
    Monster Block Alum
    cool water rinse
    Thayer's Lemon WH
Lucky Tiger......I may hit up some Gilbert Henry Bay Rum aftershave balm later in the day

For a citrus scent Mike's has decent staying power,2 hours after my shave and I can sell smell a faint hit of orange,Lord knows it's not Lucky Tiger. Two seconds later LT is gone.Enjoy the weekend all :D

I had just arrived in Milan, Italy and I decided I need to clean up after the long flight. It was cold when I arrived about -5° C and the air was dry. I was amazed at how much colder the LEA cream felt in such a cool dry climate. I think that dry skin may absorb more menthol which intensifies the cooling sensation. The blue Gillette blade was not as sharp as I had remembered but it still got the job done. I am glad I brought the EJ ASB because it is very good for moisturizing and protecting dry skin.

    Cheers, Lyndon

Another shave at the hotel using a very similar setup. I have three different aftershave gels but I think the Vifrex is my hands down favorite. I will definitely buy some more once I use up the other two gels. The Floid aftershave was taken from a barber size bottle that I bought here in Milan on a previous trip. So it's kind of funny but this aftershave has already traveled over 15,000 nautical miles.

    Cheers, Lyndon

    SoS 2013-02-16.jpg

About a week ago I got me an extra Rolls blade. NOS, so I just stropped it before use. Had me a stellar shave. The lather was nice and thick (You can trust DVH for great lather!) and the blade mowed everything down which came in its path. I'm calling it a BBS. :happy108:

    Have a great weekend ya'll!

Thanks, it's kind of you to say so. Richard, I'm a month away from 60 and have been wet shaving since I started. I got interested in straights in 1973 and have played around with them off and on since and eventually went exclusively to shaving with them. I use to have a lot of Torrey, Genco/Geneva Cutlery razors that I ended up getting rid of somewhere along the line. I deeply regret it now. I've never considered myself a collector (never had the money), just an accumulator of old stuff. I got that gene from my Dad. BTW, many good deals to be had yet but the market is getting more sophisticated.

Great shave this morning, smooth and close. Have a good one.
